The DLC was not finished when the game went to certification. It still has people working on it. This is not a matter of opinion - it is a fact. It's not on the disc because hey, we can't actually control the flow of time, no matter how much we might like to.
FAQ
Q: What are the classes like in this game?
A: A series of videos made by the developer can be viewed here.
Q: I can't find any of X element! What planets have a lot of it?
A: DVG made this awesome spreadsheet that is sortable by elements you need!

Q: Is there a point of no return?
A: Yes, spoilers!
The IFF is where the endgame starts. You should have your house in order before you do it. OR ELSE.

Q: A certain character in the bar on Ilium says I did something to him I didn't! What's up with that?
A: Common knowledge says that character is bugged at the moment. It's not just you.

Q: What are the various import bonuses?
A: Players with the "Rich" achievement start with more dollars in the bank. Characters at level 60 start at level 5, 50-59 start at level 3, and characters at least level 40 start at level 2. Apparently there are also hundreds and hundreds of tiny decisions that are brought over from a Mass Effect 1 save, so you really owe it to yourself to have at least one, good save (referred to as a "canon save")

Q: What is the canon for a new, non-imported ME2 character?
A:
If you don't import a character the choices are
Male shep - Ash alive, Fem shep - Kaiden alive
Rachnai queen dead
Wrex killed
Council killed
Udina on the council
No romance
News report done well
Conrad not sent home iirc

Think thats all of them

Q: What do I get to change when importing a character?
A: Class and appearance. Your name and everything else stay the same.

Q: Where are all of those saves for the pc?
A: You can download a bunch of saves for the pc version here.

Q: I heard there was no new game+
A: Actually, there is. They said that a long time ago, but since changed their minds.

Q: Is there a list of achievements?
A: Yes, here.

Q: Do these achievements give bonuses like in Mass Effect 1?
A: No.

Q: How do I redeem Cerberus Network crap?
A: The folks at BioWare had this to say.

Q: Do I have to have an internet connection active to load a save with DLC?
A: No you don't need to stay logged in to xbox LIVE account to use the DLC. You need to start the game with it to log on to to the system to get it, but then you can do like I did and login with the offline account to play once it's downloaded.

Q: What's with all the "silly goose" stuff?
A: Due to new forum rules, the only insult that you can use is "silly goose."

Q: People are always asking me about X. Why isn't it in the OP?
A: While I will try to stay ahead of the curve, sometimes I'll miss stuff in a fast moving thread. The best way to get something added to the FAQ (or OP for that matter) is probably to just PM me. Or just post it a lot. And if you could toss in the A to the Q, that would help out a lot too.

oh, and spoilers? if they'll destroy your experience, try to bag them and tag them. thanks.

OP continually stolen.

Ok now that I've finished the game and am ready to go again, can anyone make or recommend a comprehensive list of things I should do? For example:
Take Legion with you on the flotilla, take Grunt with you when getting Jack, take Miranda on Jack's loyalty quest, etc.

In addition, places to go or people to see. I somehow missed Conrad Verner on my first game, wtf?

Since my first theory went down so well, I'll share a second one I just developed regarding the squad members we might see in ME3. Endgame spoilers abound.
A lot of people seem to be convinced that few or perhaps even none of the squad members from ME2 will be recruitable in the next game due to the fact that anyone and/or everyone can die during the final mission, and Bioware wouldn't waste resources on characters who might not be there.

...I however, have noticed a trend within the posts in these threads that have mentioned suicide mission deaths.

It seems that if you're going to lose someone, it's most likely to be Mordin, closely followed by Thane. If there was some kind of list built into the game as to the order people start dying in when something goes wrong, I would be fairly confident in saying that these two would be right at the top.

Now consider the following - Mordin is getting pretty old for a Salarian. Thane has less than a year to live. If you were going to pick two people who'd be absent from ME3 regardless of how ME2 ended, it would probably be them. Can you see where I'm going with this?

Damage limitation. If you're going to lose a team member, the game tries its damnedest to make sure it's someone who was never going to have a significant role in the final game anyway.
To be fair, most people losing Thane are probably sending him into the tunnel by mistake. Mordin makes sense, which sucks cause he's awesome. For the others, they will probably be like in this one, making appearances but not squad mates. Except for Garrus, Grunt, and Tali, who seem to have best chance to be teammates again.

Also what the fuck? This game just turned a week old and we are talking about who's going to be in the 3rd? I don't know if thats a good sign or a very good sign.

    Late-game question (Spoilers)
If I leave Tali;s loyalty quest until after the IFF mission (so I can bring Legion) will I then be able to do Legion's loyalty quest before the game moves along? I'm wondering how strict this 'one extra quest' limit is.

This has actually been a question that's on my mind. I'm sure the third game will have another upgrade to the character face building so they'll want to make it so you can edit that. Also, the system where you can change classes upon importing (so you don't need to make a brand new character if you want to play as a new class) is very smart, but hard to justify without the whole "OMG REBUILDING" aspect.

Right now, I wouldn't be surprised if they just sweep it all under the rug. Let you do it with no mention of it in game. Hell, they already do that with looks and class anyways.

The only way for a number of people to die is to pick all the wrong choices and not upgrade. The only ones I could see really dieing with all the upgrades and loyalites is someone leading a team not Garrus/Jacob/Miranda, someone not Tali/Legion in the tunnels, not Samara/Morinth/Jack doing the barrier and Mordin mystery dieing at the door. Namely meaning Jack, Samara/Morinth, Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed should all make it baring the total party wipe.

You are right in that many people -
    - make the mistake of sending Thane or Mordin through the pipes, but actually I was talking more about how likely they are to die in the situations where it seems as though the game marks a character for death at random. Like losing someone at the doors, in the distraction team or through failure of the biotic shield. In those it seems that it's either Thane or Mordin who almost invariably draws the short straw.

Part of me wants new characters, but part of me just wants all the ones from 1 and 2 working together in one super awesome death squad. I really really really hope that Bioware just puts in the ridiculous amount of effort it would take to make even the possibly dead characters squad mates. Because man, do I NEED to see what happens in my Miranda/Tali and Ashley love triangle.

I was asking about this in the last thread, actually. Turns out:
Apparently you need to pass a rather high paragon/renegade check at the beginning, and you get a lot of extra conversation options, and remarks from other Quarians around the ship.

Bringing Legion onto the flotilla isn't as "omg fuck shit wtf?" as I would have liked. After the first bit they don't even seem to care much and Legion doesn't say anything at all on the ship with all the geth on it.

But yeah Legion says that peace would neccesitate some sort of agreement where peace would be beneficial to the Quarians because they have attacked the Geth 100% of the time when they believe they can win.

My biggest gripes about the story
The final boss makes no sense. What does making a giant human-esque thing achieve? Would it eventually morph into a space faring monstrosity or would it just walk around stomping on human colonies?

And there is also a lack of follow through on some things. I flew back to the Citadel and put Legion in my party. Nobody reacted! There was a goddamned Geth marching around the joint and everyone acted like it was business as usual.

Also, after beating the game, nobody off of the ship acknowledged it. I went to the Citadel and Anderson was just like "Oh hey let me know if you need anything." Motherfucker, I just beat down the Collectors and stopped the Reapers AGAIN! Acknowledge me!

For a game that has so much content and is otherwise so thorough, these things are glaringly wrong.

The problem with reusing the old characters for ME3 is that there's too many variables like who lived and who died. Who gets picked up and didn't. Developers would to have put resources into creating quests and loyalty quests for every character and some of them won't even be encountered by the average player. Characters that were "expendable" in earlier games will not be able to play bigger more important roles in the main storyline either because the story would be too changed if those characters weren't alive in the first place.

Then there's also the problem with storage space. For ME2, the developers put most of the recruiting and loyalty quest in disc 2. Which is why we're unable to return to old places that we completed missions on. They also had to add redundant mission and city data on both disc for shopping and sidequests which leaves fewer spaces left for Main mission quests (which is why some N7 quest are pretty short). The only option now is to create an install disc for all the main components of the game and the other disc for main and sidequests (Like how Forza does it). This would alienate xbox arcade owners though but who knows, in 2-3 years, every owner might already have a hard drive.
