Alright, i have a bit of a dilemma. I am a bit short on $ but i saved up enough on the side for an upgrade to my video card. (My current one is starting to cause problems, generally not performing as well as i'd like it to.)
A guy has offered to give me an ATI HD 4870, in the 512mb variety for $140 cdn straight up. I was going to buy
this card originally, but as i said, even that little bit of difference in money would be nice for me. I have been looking at benchmarks and the 4870 appears to come out on top (even if marginally so.) but the 5770 has more of the latest tech in it. I know at this point in time DX11 is not well supported, and probably wont be for another generation of cards or so at the least. The 4870 seems like a really good deal, i mean the 5770 there is 204 plus tax and shipping, it comes out to a fair amount more money.
Which should i take? Btw the 4870 is brand new. I also run all my games at 1440x900 so i am aware that the 1gb vs 512mb is virtually meaningless at my resolution, especially since the 4870's is GDDR5 at 256 bandwidth while the 5770's is 128.

Only issue i have is i am not used to their Catalyst anymore, it's changed a lot since i last used an ATI. How do i force Anti Aliasing through the control center on specific games?
Most games these days only have AA when it's set to "application control" on Catalyst.
I figured it out. I forgot ATI Tray tools exsisted. That's the program i used to use ages ago, still works just fine for the random couple of games that need the AA forced on them. If i could run things at a higher res wouldn't be such a problem.
