The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I had a real shitty experience trying to learn it in high school, with some real garbage teachers just coasting through to cash a paycheck, but since I play spanish-style (i.e. "flamenco") guitar and have a rather large latin community (both back home in Texas and a large core group at my school), i'd like to give it another shot.
I know the fastest way to learn it is to throw yourself into the wolves den by chatting with other spanish speakers, but in the mean time i'm looking for a good audio/computer program that I can practice with a little each day in between class breaks or on the side of my school work.
I also need to save some green, so nothing too expensive please!
What is the best spanish teaching program/book/whatever on the market today? Something that I can invest a little bit of time in each day that will make huge strides in my learning and speaking skills?
I tried Michel Thomas' CDs when I was learning, which seemed to work pretty well despite a lack of any real effort on my part.
Here's his website, which seems to be pretty rubbish at actually selling the CDs - I found them on Amazon for significantly less than his UK site sells them for.
I know at least one of my friends really hated the way the CDs are done, so I recommend going here and downloading the free sample, which I think is the first disk of the set to see how you get on with it.

Hear my warnings, unbelievers. We have raised altars in this land so that we may sacrifice you to our gods. There is no hope in opposing the inevitable. Put down your arms, unbelievers, and bow before the forces of Chaos!
Congratulations on choosing to re-learn Spanish, it's a great language! I don't have any suggestions as for programs, but I have suggestions none the less.
Spanish is all about grammar, specifically verb conjugation. Get those down and you'll be speaking perfect Spanish in no time.
Also, if you have any doubts I'm available at the AC!

Rosetta stone is good, but very expensive.
