If they don't have the correct base curve (BC) then they won't be a good fit, possible it's off.
But sounds to me like your eyes just aren't used to them enough yet. How long have you been wearing them each day? Do you have any discomfort/problems with them off? I find even still I will go blurry if I get lazy at the computer screen and stop "trying" to focus. (It's pretty much automatic, but I can still tell my eyes are needing to stay focused.)
This happened to me once, and IIRC it was simply a bad contact lens.
But if not, I'm sure it's a bad fit like the post above mentions.
I don't remember my dud, but I do remember the first time I put in contacts and there certainly wasn't an "adjusting period" of any kind. So definetly get it checked out.
- your eyes need to adjust to blinking more often to keep the contacts moist. If they dry out then you can end up with the 'ghosting'.
- contacts are uni-directional and can be inside out on your eye, where they won't follow the curve properly, and may generate the double-vision. Make sure that when you're going to put them in they have a perfectly round shape when looking down on it on your fingertip.
When I made the jump to contacts I ran into the same problem. The first pair I was given to try wouldn't sit on my eyes right and I kept having the double vision you describe.
You may have to try out a few different types/brands to find what fits.
