It's that time again..time to start a new thread! figured I'd start it off the same way as the last one...with Video Game Valentines!

This year, the incredible folks at valve software put my valentines up on the valve store free for people to download and print
so head over to http://store.valvesoftware.com and click that little banner at the top to get the free PDF download

    Beav, your Valentines day stuff are some of the best things ever. I was sitting in class today and it suddenly dawned upon me that Valentines day meant more of your cards, and in my head I went "yeesssssssssssssssss".

    HEY BEAVO!

    Nice work on these valentines...I would probably appreciate them even more if i watched Lost or had LFD 2 :P

    Quick question/critique: Why didn't you give these a nice texture overlay? I love love love your valentines from last year and I think that these ones are missing a little something. They seem less finished i guess.

    The line widths are bothering me a little bit in a few of these as well...I'm not sure if I'm imagining things or making mountains out of mole hills or something but I think that more care could have been put into areas like the shoulder and man boobs of the tank in the last image and the face and shoulder/tricep of the dude third from the top. It might have been a stylistic choice and I'm fine with that but I think that these areas in particular are lacking a little subtlety that I'm so used to seeing in your work.

    oh hey guys
    just bumping this thread up from oblivion!

    I haven't been posting much work around here, so I figured I'd post some things to get the feedbacks on

    I've put together a bunch of studies and figure drawings I did since January to use in a portfolio:

    this is for a girl i know who's in public relations
    she needs to put together a fancy portfolio, so this is my proposal for her:

    she's been showing it to non designers and they say the seed-petals are confusing and busy

    which...i mean, i think the bars might be busy but she wanted a sunflower somewhere in the logo and that was my answer to it, try to be subtle not BAM! SUNFLOWER!!!!

    do you guys have any thoughts on the matter?

    i don't know if that'll make people find it less confusing though
    i'm confused about what's confusing about it

    but i mean.
    non-designers would throw a real picture of a sunflower in there and call it beautiful so why i'm beating myself up over it is beyond me.

    I like the idea of the sunflower seed and the colours you've used. I'm not big on the actual sunflower though, it seems a bit on the scrappy side. I think the sunflower seed on it's own is a much stronger image.

    EDIT: that being said it's what the client wants, and they're the one giving you money.
