Japanese candy and the birthdays blessed by it!

Hello! I'm usually lurking, but I've come out of the shadows to ask a very serious question; what is the best store in which to purchase Japanese/other candy over the nets?

Reason:

My girlfriend and I have birthdays close together, mine is on the 14th and her's is on the 22nd. I always try to buy some kind of interesting treat for the occasion, last year I bought some Japanese candy from Disney World (Epcot), and it was spectacular! I was wondering if anyone had some experience with this kinda thing and knows either some excellent types of candy to buy or a really good place to buy them from online.

Much appreciated.

I buy from http://www.wizzywig.com/xcart/catalog/index.htmll mostly because the store was local to me before I moved to Cowtown, CO. Their selection does vary however because they are a brick and mortar retailer primarily.

The best thing you can do is locate an asian supermarket if there's one within driving distance. I'm in Boulder, CO and there's a huge one about 20 or 30 minutes south. If it's big enough they'll usually have an aisle or two totally dedicated to snacks and treats, most of which you haven't run across before. I highly recommend Hi-Chew and they'll usually have a ton of variations of Pocky. My personal favorite is Salad Pocky (however odd that sounds).

Another great alternative is asian fruit! Their produce aisles are full of wacky shit. Lychee totally rocks and is delicious or you could go a little more adventurous and dabble in something like Durian (make sure to have a screwdriver and hammer handy to open it) or Jackfruit. Though you run the risk of disliking it the experience is usually worth it.

Beverages like aloe drinks and Boba Tea (hmmm!) are easy too.

Those are just some of the things I find pleasure in. Hope it helps

I've never bought candy from them, but I did buy some kanji workbooks that came very promptly, so I can give their service a tentative thumbs up.

I'm a big fan of Fran, it's like Pocky but has more of a cookie stick instead of a cracker stick.
