Getting back into PC gaming! What games to buy?

Hey folks - I've been without a PC for a while. The last time I had one that could feasibly play games was back in June.

Mass Effect 2 and probably the new Aliens vs. Predator are probably gonna be sure buys for me.

Any other suggestions?

Did you enjoy Diablo? If so you'd certainly like Torchlight.

Dragon Age? I'll assume you already have the Orange Box, because TF2 is still awesome. L4D2 would be good, too.

Braid, Left 4 Dead 2, Torchlight, Crysis (if you haven't already done so).

Sweet... Torchlight seems like the perfect game after getting through some other meatier stuff.

Is Modern Warfare 2 worth getting on PC?

To be honest, I can't stand playing FPS games on anything but a PC simply because of the keyboard and mouse. If you're like me, then MW2 is definitely something you should play on the PC.

Yeah, it was good, even if the plot is amazingly retarded and reuses the same plot devices that made the first Modern Warfare cool, but uses them 3x as often.

The gameplay is still good and it looks much better on the PC.

I'm kinda surprised no one has recommended Borderlands. It's a post-apocalyptic FPS Diablo. Vastly superior to Torchlight if you ask me. But then, I really don't like the WoW-esque cartoony look of Torchlight either.

TF2 if you somehow never picked it up in the past. Also, Batman: Arkham Asylum. And I'm not sure how well it played on PC but Assassins Creed 2 was goddamn fantastic.

Since I don't know what you missed and what your old box could run, here's just my list of really fun PC games

Orange Box is worth it just for Portal alone. And it has Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2.

Dragon Age: Origins seems like it will be a lot more fun once I figure out how to pull 1 or 2 people from a group without pulling effing 12 mobs.

Bioshock. Ayn Rand + art deco + underwater dystopia + psychic powers = FUN.
-- Bioshock 2 is coming out soon. I can't see it being less than above-average (80%)

    Command and Conquer: Generals

    American McGee's Alice

    Warning Forever (freeware)

Left 4 Dead 2 - played the demo. Going to buy the game when I don't have a mountain of schoolwork crushing me.

Far Cry 2 is currently $10 on Steam. Maybe not $full-price worth of fun, but definitely $10 worth of fun.
