[Gun On!] Gunbound Classic

I'm sure you've either played, or heard about gunbound one way or another, as it's one of the older free korean MMOs out there. Well, seeing as softnyx got progressively worse and worse with their "cash shop" mentality, some folks took it upon themselves to bring back the "classic" gunbound that made the game so popular to begin with.

I'd like to get a PA group going if anyone's interested. Servers are generally lag free, and while there are a lot of foreign players that don't speak english, there are also quite a few domestic players that do, and there's already a strong goon presence as well. The last bit there can be seen as a good or a bad thing, depending on who you ask.

Game passwords should be "wang" and room titles ideally should have something PA related in them.

    I should take the time to make a better OP, but meh, laziness takes it's toll. They do have some "custom" items not featured in the original GB, but they're mainly for looks since everyone plays on the avatar off server.

    Oh and you get item rewards for most of your rank promotions. Significantly more than just the "space marine armor + helmet" from the old days.

    Just finished my first game, fairly close game but managed to win. It's nice to know that I haven't forgotten everything. :lol:

    Oh Jesus, I downloaded Gunbound about 3 or 4 months ago to see how it's come along since everyone was into it, and it's gotten so bad. Now, my first complaint is that it doesn't support wide-screen but a lot of games are like that.

    They added a tutorial to the game, which actually does instruct you about all the shit you have to be concerned with in the game. It even lets you take each vehicle for a spin.

    Unfortunately the community is the same as it ever was. And they added this annoying "YES" sound effect when you get a direct hit. It's extremely loud compared to every other sound in the game, it cannot be disabled, nor does it have its own volume bar.

    But, Gunbound Classic makes me assume this has none of that shit. My question is where does this fall legally? Also I'd be all over this as soon as I get my internet situation patched up.

    I generally play on the avatar off server, and if anyone's wanting to meet up for a game, my in-game name is Serge, and I usually hang out in chat channel 6 or 7.

    Frankly I don't know the specifics of this group's affiliation with Softnyx (if there is any) but they present it as a "softnyx canada" creation. Though there are obvious signs that point to it being fan-made, like the "community forums" being on some totally different, weird URL.

    Anyhow, I am home, and planning to gun some bounds, or bound guns.

    I am definitely going to have to try this out; I have fond memories of this game. Also, I remember how jealous I used to be of those people who were crazy good with Boomer, using the wind to make insane backwards shots and stuff.

    I assume most people shared the experience of loading it up for the first time, picking bigfoot, and promptly killing all your teammates (and usually yourself)?

    Ahhh, Gunbound. Way too many hours were spent playing this.

    And I was extremely jealous of the boomer pros, and their backwards high angle shots too :(

    Yeah, I'm not going to say the original gunbound was perfect, but GBC is a trip back to a simpler time, when it was just about shooting mans with your friends and buying silly items with your winnings.

    Plus it's still free, and sans nprotect-spyware bullshit.

    Oh man, I used to LOVE Gunbound before they ruined it with the consumable items.
    I'll have to try this and show it to my brother and his GF. Our 3-peep team used to destroy just about anyone we ever met.

    Can I use this space to bitch that there's no central Worms experience on the PC anymore? I like Gunbound, but it's just a tweaked out Worms substitute for me.

    And the console Worms releases have been kinda feature-light and badly thought out as far as online multiplayer is concerned.
