Basically I've just bought Pokemon Emerald as a game for my DS light and i'm having some little niggles with catching some pokemon in it. Firstly, even though I'm onl just past the first gym i've spotted an Abra off route 116 and failed to stop it teleporting, even though I just tried to throw a great pokeball at it. Will I have the chance to catch one again? And if so, how should I go about catching it?
Also, I would like to know if anyone has the details on how to catch Mew. Whenever I go on google and search I don't know if it's just that google doesn't like me but it just brings up either very little information or it sends me links for faq's of Ruby or Sapphire.
We have a pokemon thread right here, that would be an excelent place to post this instead of making a new thread.
But anyways, for Abras, the only thing you can do is keep throwing pokeballs whenever you see one until you get lucky and one sticks. There's very little you can do to stop them from teleporting away.
Mew is not catchable without using something like a gameshark or action replay (hacking, basically). I guess there might have been Nintendo events where mews were handed out to participants at one time or another, but, honestly, fuck you Nintendo.
We already have a pokemon thread, but I can answer the Abra question anyway. They will still appear randomly. Your only options of catching it are to either throw a pokeball and hope for the best, or stop it from teleporting. A fast pokemon putting it to sleep is one option.
Mew is uncatchable in Emerald unless you have some sort of cheating device. In which case, you could probably find codes on GameFAQs or something.
You can do a few things for Abra. Either chuck a few great balls at them until you catch one, get something with sleep powder and is faster than Abra to put him to sleep, or wait until you get ultra balls, which should work on the first try. Really, great balls aren't that expensive, and while somewhat rare, Abra isn't super elusive. Just keep trying. As for Mew, you need a Mystery Ticket from an Event, which I don't think will happen in the US anywhere until after the release of D/P. I am no Pokemon expert though, so consult a bigger nerd than me for info on Mew. Otherwise it's all Action Replay/Gameshark. That said, there is a Pokemon thread somewhere on the page.
