How to make a windows box an wireless access point?
For some reason, the wireless router I have can't stay online for longer than a day. I replaced it with a standard wired one for now.
The problem is that I'm getting a wireless device and I need to hook it up. I'll need infrastructure and not ad-hoc. I still have the wireless card in my windows computer and came across a pretty simple answer. I'll just use the wireless card and an access point.
I went to the wireless network wizard in control panel (Windows XP) and set up a wireless network. I gave it an SSID and finished.
It never showed up on any of my other wireless devices. It lets me configure it, but it doesn't seem to broadcast anything. It also doesn't seem to allow me to keep the wireless open without WPA either.
What am I missing?
(For the record, this should be pretty straight forward. In Linux, all you do is add two lines to iptables to forward to the wireless card.)
