Yeah, I've been completely unable to find a game. What a waste of my money.

I think this thread can be summed up into:

    Matchmaking. It ruins games.

    Well yeah.

But you gotta admit that on the multiplayer front, the matchmaking completely destroyed it. Hell, I wasn't even interested in this game for its single player, just its multiplayer.

Yeah, MM killed this game more than it being mediocre did. 18 Man multi? Well that's a great ambition, too bad it capped out at 5 99% of the time!

I had an 9 player going for a little while before I uninstalled, although by the end only three were left. Of course matchmaking never put us together again.

    What a shame

What's really annoying me is I only need to play with six friends in a ranked match to 1000/1000 this game. There are not six people playing this game.

Jump on the odd night and it takes 15 minutes to get us into a completely lopsided game. I can't believe they've released a map pack before they patched the god awful 360 matchmaking system.

I started up the Marine campaign today - I tried getting further in the Predator campaign, but I'm in a room where there is absolutely no way to proceed - a walkthrough states I go through a door, but all doors in the room are closed and unable to be interacted with. Anyway I booted up the Marine campaign, just met up with Tequila, and I think I'm done with the game. It started pulling off the creepy vibe really well, but then I had to fight a Xeno and it was just "fire pistol while backpedaling wildly", and based on how combat went in the other campaigns I don't have much more to look forward to. I'm done with this game, and I'm really pretty sad, on multiple levels. I'm sad that the game wasn't good for me, I'm sad Rebellion made such a bad game, and I'm sad I dropped the money on the special edition of the game, because the non-game stuff isn't worth the money I paid if the game isn't worth playing through all the way even once.

But on the upside apparently FedEx tried to deliver a package from Sega to me today while I was at work so... I guess they're shipping out replacement Facehuggers?

It's worth perververing a little bit with the Marine campaign if you want to get your moneys worth. It's the best of the three by a long way.

I meant to post about this. I did actually receive my replacement 'hugger about a week ago one morning before work. No email was ever sent confirming my request, nor was I ever informed that I was being sent a replacement, but lo and behold. There it is.

Yes, I am legitimately comparing this game to spousal abuse. It really was that bad.

Agreed. Lots of great ideas, none of which seemed to be executed properly in the actual game :?

    Yup

If you have a video game system I'd says it's worth a rental if you're a big fan of the various franchises involved, just to see what they've done in the game. Though be prepared for some pretty serious frustration at times, and some bad to mediocre controls.

If by "dedicated servers" you mean a different lobby list, then yes.

They have in fact added dedicated servers to the PC version a while after release. They're only available for "player matches", so you can't unlock skins while playing on a server.

As games go, this isn't a bad one.

The problem is that it isn't a good one either.

It's tolerable though, so if you're a fan of either of the franchises then it's probably worth it for that price.

Alien is one of my favoritest franchises ever. It's not worth it. Especially when you have a much better AvP game sitting right next to it on Steam, that's also cheaper.

I played the whole way through the Predator story and halfway through the Alien story and then traded this steaming bag of pus back. It's not worth $25, and I'm going to hazard to say that it's not even worth $5, as Tube suggests.
