Delighted with your advice in my recent haircut thread, I now come to you, H/A, with an even more important question:
What should my family name our two new puppies?
I'll be driving everyone out to pick out two female Great Pyrenees X Golden Lab puppies tomorrow afternoon, pending final contract negotiations and a clean bill of health from the vet. They are adorable, as seen in the images included in the ad for them (not my photos):
But we're completely clueless as to names. Initially, when the male was still available and we were going to get one of either sex, Jaco and Joni (after Jaco Pastorius and Joni Mitchell, a pair of the family's favourite musicians) were perfect. Now that the male is gone and we'll be getting two females, we're not so sure.
Ideas that have been thrown around (with the inspiring artists following in brackets):
Joni and Kaki (Joni Mitchell and Kaki King)
Joni and Jenny (" and Jennifer Warnes)
Joni and Laila (" and Laila Biali)
Joni and Nina (" and Nina Simone)
Joni and Norah (" and Norah Jones)
As you can tell, we're pretty damn fond of Joni as one of the names. Still, a stronger suggestion could displace it. The "female jazz musician" theme is not at all a requirement for suggestions but simply an easy source of female names in our house. The only requirement we have for suggestions is that they be disyllabic, as all dog names should be.
With that, please post your ideas!

The first name that popped in my head was Envy for some reason. Though I'm preferential to not using people names for animals.
Alternatively I think mythological names are great too. Givers the pet a legacy.
Nike?
Freyja?
That's where I'd start at least
Both of Man's best friends!
What about Tal (as in Tal Wilkenfeld as in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2gO7FI_ogvA )
...or Wil and Grace?

Yes. If I was the kinda man to use huge motivational posters in my posts, it'd be a gorilla high-fiving a dinosaur or something.
she's also giving me a really hard time on the leash, for the most part she walks but she keeps deciding to stop, sit down and struggle. she can't be enticed to follow treats, gently tugging is futile and if I pull she'll struggle till she chokes- pretty much all I can do is pick her up.
get a gentle leader on her, its basically a head harness. it works great so long as its on right.
one thing when picking names is you want it to have a good strong syllable sound since that is what they will respond to. for instance our pups full name is clarabelle, but we call her clara.
also don't let them do anything now that you wouldn't want them to do when they are full size since they will be big boys and girls.
That was my grandfather's dog's names
maybe Janice?
either Joplin or
A Gentle Leader is not for pulling a dog forward. The instructions actually discourage that.

what can I do beyond taking her out thrice a day (i live in an apartment) and praising her whenever she does it outside?
edit- and yes, i took her out at night before putting her to bed. she didn't go.
Tango and Cash
Damn.
Other than what you are doing, spend A LOT of time outside when she is most likely to go. Be patient. Reinforce with treats if she's more responsive to food. If you don't have a command, start working on one. Ours is "Get busy."

HOUSE for short.
ah i reread the post and assumed leash issues was pulling.
how old is the pup could be she is just not ready for leash walking and having the leash on freaks her out. you can just clip the leash to her inside and let her run around with it, it gets them used to it on their neck
