Decent week!
Napolean Total War comes out for
PC, should be a good edition of the Total War series.
Next up is
Heavy Rain and Last Rebellion on PS3. Heavy Rain sounds interesting and I've heard mixed opinions on Last Rebellion..
The
PSP gets a good game -
Metal Slug XX comes out for it! Only $20! Should be awesome!
Wii gets
Endless Ocean: Blue World. It's only $30. Or if you get it bundled with Wii Speak it's only $40 since it supports online multi and speech.
360 gets
Risen, which I don't know much about. I think it's only $50.
Everyone gets the
Sonic Racing game except the PSP.
Also
Greed Corp is a digital distro game that I've heard some good things about but I know nothing about it.

Risen is apparently improved since it came out in Europe last year, and Metal Slug XX seems pretty cool.
I didn't realize Last Rebellion and Sonic Racing were this week either! Interesting.

At least it's only $20.
Actually there are a lot of decently priced games this week. Like Endless Ocean .

I already own it on DS though..

Wii
nothing else matters.
PA Risen thread. US 360 release of the spiritual successor to the Gothic games. The PC version was kind of overlooked last fall because it came out a few weeks before MW2 and Dragon Age. On the PC, it was a very pretty game with very few bugs, thanks to Piranha Bytes spending much more time on polish than their previous games.
The Euro 360 version was a butt ugly port with terrible graphics compared to the PC version. I can't find any reviews of the US version yet, so no word if it is the same as the Euro or if the graphics are improved.
PC vs. Euro 360 graphic comparison
Well if someone told me that before, I wouldn't have bought it
Not sure about actually buying a PS3.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Wouldn't have bought the DS version? You would have rather waited two full years?
I'm glad I got it when I did. It's an awesome game. But I'll wait before buying it a second time, even if it does have some enhancements.
Niiiiice. Man I love classic Mega Man so much. Lookin forward to 10.

Oh. Huh. Well in that case I understand.
Did you pay $20 for it?

Something like that, yeah.
Kinda hard to play Heavy Rain if you don't buy one, isn't it?
Anywho, Heavy Rain should arrive on thursday. That should give me enough time to finish Bayonetta tomorrow and then I'll have some solid Heavy Rain play before my classes start back up on monday.
Can't wait for it.

(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)
Apparently in Europe a 360 version was released at the same time as the PC but was like a horrible alpha version. But this release is a fixed up proper version.
But ehhhhh
I still don't know why it wasn't just an Empire expansion, outside the fact that they couldn't charge full price if it were.
It's more than like the Gothic series, it essentially is a new Gothic game, just with a different name due to rights issues. In fact it's from the same developers. I tried out the PC demo and it seemed cool, but I never picked up the full version and then I got sucked into Dragon Age.
I think it's a shame the 360 release is coming out this week in the US, right in the midst of all these other releases.
I also think it's funny that when the PC version launched here last year the retail box proudly proclaimed "Only on Windows and Xbox 360!"

And?
Do not engage the Watermelons.
And nothin'. Just wondering why you seem more convinced to buy Heavy Rain than you are to buy the system, when I would've thought it's an all in or nothing scenario.
This is what you'd call a support for the developer thing. Despite the way Indigo Prophecy ended up, I liked what Cage was doing.
Do not engage the Watermelons.

I've only played the Japanese version so I'm ecstatic to get a chance to play this in English (portable and cheap no less).

Ah, fair enough then. I've done it a couple of times myself, though usually for systems I already own (like Rogue Galaxy, which I've still not put more than 30 minutes of play into).
Yeah. I figure I might eventually get a PS3. But not now. And not for a single game.
Do not engage the Watermelons.
Pricing for PSX games on PSN is so messed up.
Another game that I want to finally get a PSP for.

$10 for one of the best RPGs of its generation is messed up? Sure, $6 would have been even better, but $10 is no more expensive than the N64 games on the Wii VC.
Steam ID : rwb36, Twitter : Werezompire,
Yea, but Super Mario RPG and Secret of Mana for $8 is even better.
I can't speak for quality though, I've always wanted to play Grandia, just never got a chance to.

It had probably the best battle system of any RPG of its era, it did 3D graphics better than its contemporary Xenogears, and it has a phenomenal soundtrack. Sounds like a great RPG to me.
Steam ID : rwb36, Twitter : Werezompire,
Also I picked up Heavy Rain, and a few control issues aside, it's wonderful so far
Oh, I agree with the bargin issue of the $6 games but that it is messed up.
Think about it: Most people would rather buy FF VII and VIII over Grandia, so you'd think they'd price the games that well sell no matter what at the higher price point and discount the semi obscure, but by no means terrible Grandia 1.
It makes sense to price it at $10 because there will be people who will get it simply because they could never find a copy back in the day and are wondering what all the hubbub was about
People like me
Honestly it shocks me that Suikoden was only $6
I'm not complaining about the deals mind, I'm just saying they are messed up!
I'm another that wanted to play Grandia, but I wouldn't have paid what people wanted for a hard copy either.

You say the story is cool? It gets me emotionally interested in the characters? Not if all I do is a series of fucking quicktime events, oh and holding down a goddamn button to walk.
Heavy Rain is a point-and-click adventure with a shitty interface.
The first time I had you use my inhaler in the demo, I was livid. Sweeping motion to take it out of my pocket. Shake the controller to shake up the thing. Another sweeping motion to bring it to my mouth. Press a *shoulder button!* to activate the thing. I'm sorry, can we make a game with more boring minutia?
Does the main character have a bladder I have to remember to empty every 5 hours or so? Sweeping motion to bring my hands to my crotch. Up to down to unzip my fly. L2 to take out my shlong. Hold X until you hear the stream taper off to a dripping. Shake the controller to dry off willie. Sweeping motion to put it back in my pants. Down to Up to zip up my fly.
It offends me that this game is getting such high marks. I don't want to see more development time wasted on this tripe.

Agreed, I never want to see development time wasted on games/genres I don't like either. Shooters? Pfft, it offends me that those games get such high marks.
You're a silly goose.
Not everyone sees Hotel Dusk as the masterpiece of story and writing that I do, but it doesn't mean that their opinions are any less valid. (Just not as refined) kidding kidding :P
