Use spoiler-tags for things that occurred in the latest episode, grace-period is one week after airing. Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith: Sayid is recruited by the Man in Black when the latter says he will be able to see Nadia again if he joins him. Sayid's first act after being recruited is going to the temple and killing Dogen which allows the Man in Black to enter killing the others. This is similar to when Anakin is told he will be able to save Padme if he converts to the Dark Side. Anakins first act as a Sith is to go to the Jedi temple and to kill the younglings. Jesus Christ's tonight's episode made me think of the last two episodes of the original TV run of Neon Genesis Evangelion...

Basically the main character is forced to live out this weird psychic hallucination of what his life would be like if he weren't a whiny bitch about being a super awesome robot pilot. But at the end he accepts his life as it is and who he is and-- I don't know it didn't make a lot of sense but when I saw jack walk by the sign at the auditions that said: WELCOME ALL CANDIDATES I was like "wwwwaaaait a minute."

What it what we're seeing isn't a goddamned alternate reality at all, but some kind of kooky "THIS IS YOUR LIFE..." flash that they have to deny/turn down before potentially moving on to become Jacob? :|a

Also someone said tonight that Jack's actions at the end seemed totally irrational and unpredictable like a crazyperson, to which I remind you all:

I didn't notice this last night.

The sign for David's recital reads "Welcome all Candidates."

But also, some of the crossed out names are not dead, which means that there are other reasons for being disqualified.

Maybe I should consult the lostpedia first, but I am so confused about Jack having a son. When did this happen?

At first I was OK, with the "both universes exist" thingy, but now I'm trying to see the point? Are the storytellers trying to tell us that being "Lost" was an inherently better outcome for everyone involved? So far it seems like the only point they've made is that these people are so screwed up it doesn't seem to matter which version of hell they're in, they're still goosed.

I can't blame Jack for his reaction, but did we get to see who 110 was?

I can buy that. If Jacob hadn't interfered with their lives in order to influence them to the someday point of being Lost, then they probably would have turned out differently.

My guess is that Jack's ex-wife is/was Sarah and she lied about not being pregnant in the Lost universe, or in the "normal" universe version she did give birth to a son.

The kid's like 14. She plain wasn't pregnant in the original timeline.

Just like Jack's appendectomy happened when he was 8, not while on the island.

So I think that the theory

That Jack is somehow the only person to remember in the side universe is correct. His neck injury, and his appendectomy, plus the fact that he didn't remember his son played the piano all seem to point to this. The show plays his son thing f as if he didn't know because his son is distant from him. However, at first he acts like he doesn't even know that his son is musical. He's surprised at the music in his room, and he tells Dogen "I don't know how long he's been playing."

So at first, you think "oh his son never told him or whatever." But this can't be the case, because David then says "you were always really creepy about it when I was younger." This means that Jack does know that he plays, and even if he didn't know that he was still practicing, once he found out he would say "He's been playing since he was x years old." His forgetfulness of the appendectomy (a pretty traumatic thing for a kid, I remember when I got my tonsils out and I was five), seems to be in line with this.
