New GPU. No sound.

I recently put in a ATI 5850 card into a friends computer. I popped out his crossfire 8800's and popped in the new card, no problem. However, there is a new issue of there not being any sound coming out of the Logitech 2.1 speakers. There is sound coming out of the front case USB ports and his Sidewinder keyboard, via Headset.
There is no sound when I plug the 2.1 speakers into either the onboard or his Soundblaster card, which the computer no longer detects.

plz halp.

did you search through your audio options? some ATI add an audio driver that can get set to default, and all you have to do is tell windows to output to that instead of the card.

and you did make sure the card/nothing on the motherboard was knocked loose when you took out the old cards?

    He has a 750w PSU.
I checked the sound card to make sure that it wasn't loose, and it wasn't.
And no, we didn't plug it into the SPDIF.

I think Windows has set the new card as the active audio device. ATI card have audio functions too.

Check the audio devices page, in windows 7/vista you just right click the volume icon on the system tray and pick playback devices.

This. Same thing happened to me when I installed a 4870 into a friend's computer.

Any graphic card that has or can have HDMI ports will try and do this when you install it and the drivers

This. Just set all your default sound devices to your soundcard and you should be set.
