Updating my 360 - Quick Question

I bought a refurb'd 360 last year - pretty basic non-HDMI console w/ a 20 gb harddrive. It works mostly fine - occasionally give dirty disc errors but hasn't since I started playing with it horizontally. I'm thinking about trading it into EB to get a new console. I know I'll lose my saved games from the harddrive but I'm ok with that (I'm not in the middle of any game right now) and I know I can re-download my content via the web even if my original console isn't home anymore.

The only question left before I do it is how can I be sure I'm getting most current 360 release? I understand they're significantly quieter now and run better. I'm buying an Elite if that makes a difference.

Just so you know, you are able to back up your save game files to an external and then transfer them to a new Xbox 360 HDD. You could also keep the hard drive if you wanted to, although I imagine you'll get more trade-in value if you don't.

The latest 360 revision (Jasper) has been out for almost 18 months now; it's almost guaranteed that any new 360 you buy will be a Jasper.

To be sure, make sure to get an Elite bundled with Lego Batman and Pure; that bundle has only been available for about 6 months.

Check the port where you plug in the power cord on the console. The jasper has more little divisions. You can google to see a comparison of all the revisions.
