Its time for one of my favorite meals, Corned Beef and Cabbage, but I've never made it on my own. Anyone have a decent recipe? I have a crock-pot/slow-cooker, if that makes things easier.
(edit) I didn't mean to spam H/A. I was split between the two questions. I thought the first one did not go through, and this was more seasonally appropriate.
Here's the recipe from Cook's Illustrated (aka America's Test Kitchen TV Show) for how to make coned beef at home and cook up a New-England style meal. The recipe goes behind a paywall after a few days so print it out. I didn't think it would be kosher to just paste it here.
Some grocery stores, and Costco for sure, sell pre-cured and spiced corned beef.
Throw corned beef in the crockpot with a bunch of water for 6-10 hours on low, take it out and place it fatty side up on a baking sheet, smear it with mustard and cover it with brown sugar, and bake it at 350ish for 10 mins to glaze it.
Use the water from the crockpot to boil cabbage, potatoes, and carrots (sweet potatoes are also good) until soft.
