Hi folks! Been living in Melbourne for about 4-5 months now, and will be going to Sydney on a business trip on Thursday. Suffice it to say I'll be sticking around for the long weekend to make a trip out of it. =)

I'm happy to take any and all recommendations, including but not limited to: cool shit to see, awesome things to do, tasty places to eat, and just random stuff that you think would be pretty darn neat.

Thanks!

the sydney fish markets are awesome just to see, not even only for seafood lovers, though moreso if you have a barbecue or a kitchen to go back to and cook with. still, you can get lunch there and it's just a kinda fun carnivalesque atmosphere.

glebe is a cool suburb nearby, and every saturday morning there's a market on where you can get good fashion, records, diy crap, market food, books etc. etc...

the city itself is kind of vapid in most areas but kinokuniya is a giant bookshop right in the city and it's got a hell of a lot of books: graphic novels, literature, art/design pictorials, cutesy japanese stuff

and please get a ferry somewhere! they're the best. you can go out to manly (one of the best beaches in the city, but almost as bad a tourist trap as bondi), to taronga zoo, balmain or across the harbour to kiribilli or mcmahons point (good little foody/pub/boutique suburbs) or just around to darling harbour or circular quay: wherever.

any particular restaurant styles you'd like to hit up? i know a fair bit though i'm slanted toward the north side of the bridge

edit: oh: don't be afraid of public transport! if there's something you've heard about or a place you'd like to visit, use this website to figure out how much of a pain it's going to be to get there. it's a really handy website and it'll generally tell you exactly the best way to get where you want to go, including bus/train/ferry times, and if you're heading from the cbd most trips will be really easy
