So, on my desk, shrinkwrapped, is a copy of Socom:FtB2 for the PSP. Before I open it and ruin it's returnability, I'm looking for some personal reccomendations yay or nay for the title. I've never played a Socom game before.

I have not played this game, but I have played the first Fireteam Bravo. It was solid but unspectactular. Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror had the same basic formula of stealth TPSing but pulled it off way better.

Don't get me wrong though, it's definitely not a bad purchase, I've heard FTB2 is more refined than the first. I say give it a shot.

I liked the original, but it weighed on the portable-crutch a lot.

Agreed. Other than the bland graphics, the biggest beef I had with the first title was the lock-on mechanism basically making the game too easy.

I will say that though the game really didn't do anything novel or brilliant, it's simply a blast to be shooting it out with terrorists, ordering your buddy around, and marveling at the fact that you're doing all of this in a 3D space while on a plane or car or throne or whatever. If it were me with the game sitting in front of me, I'd totally open it up and give it a go. However, I'd rate MGSPO and SF:DM a good bit above this game, and I acknowledge it's not THAT special.

Picked it up for free, played the first level. It's not bad.

Yeah, I definitely be picking up MGSPO or SF eventually, I just saw this one tonight on the way out of work and said "Eh, what the hell..."
