[Game On] Dawn of War II: Retribution (soon-to-be-released expansion)
Posts
Being rolled 12 times in a row on a daily basis by premade level 60's against you and two random level 10's isn't my idea of fun.

I'm not sure what you mean. Level 60 isn't an indicator of skill level, just how many points you've accrued with that particular race. TS Level is the skill level.
If you're saying that the game should avoid mismatching players of different TS levels, then yeah, I'll largely agree to that.
Or do you mean that groups formed of friends should be matched against other groups, not random collections put together by the matchmaking (even if they're the same TS level)? If so how would you deal with something like a group of random people that have a good game together and then decide to "team up" after the match to continue on (one of DoW2's better features I felt)?
Their TS are like in the 30's to boot when I'm still at 21 with 16 and 17 TS ranked team-members. I think the last day I played this was when this happened on six different occasions within a single day.
Also, I don't see the problem if they team up and are put into a premade que. Random que should be balanced in the fact you have just as much chance as the other team to get not-so-good players or excellent ones.
Yeah, 1v1 is totally reliant on you but I prefer team battles over those, FFA is better in a lot of respects.

It seems to evaporated as a whole now, this concept of matching exclusively arranged against arranged. Starcraft 2 doesn't have it, RUSE doesn't have it (in the beta at least), it's becoming quite extinct. Game designers tend to claim that they match teams against teams more often in these random queues, but sometimes I wonder how effective it really is.
A few weeks ago, I played three games in a row, lost all three, and my TS went up.
Your viewed TS level is actually a game or so behind its actual level. So it's not rare to have a terrible game and yet your TS actually goes up, or vice-versa. It's a change that actually happened before your latest game.
Yeah, that's cool.

I didn't even see that. I was too busy laughing at the eye patch made from parchment.
Did you think of doing something like the Monday Night Combat people did so you didn't have to wait for cert for every damn patch?
Yes.
It's called "Kicking GFWL to the curb, and throwing the suitcase out the window".
The moment Retribution comes out. The original and CR will still use it unfortunately.
Retribution is going to be using Steamworks for all its multiplayer architecture (matchmaking, custom games etc.), they're completely ditching GFWL.
The previous titles are going to remain as they are, and won't be updated with the new units. Retribution isn't going to be multiplayer compatible with them. On the flipside, Retribution will give access to all 6 races by default, without needing the vanilla game / CR anyway.
So yeah, Retribution is basically Relic making a complete break with the GFWL architecture.
EDIT: So around about March.
Do we get cookies
The parrot is adorable and awesome! He probably constantly squawks "KILL THE MUTANT! BURN THE HERETIC! PURGE THE UNCLEAN!" Followed by "Polly want a cracker!"
"Orkses never lose a battle. If we win we win, if we die we die fightin so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!".
i don't think you get 40k
To protect its shoulders. Duh.
They were good in Dow, but not quite up to their insane rep.
An Eldar Autarch and a Hive Tyrant quad-wielding bone swords (Swarm Lord perhaps?) can be seen in the trailer.
I'm betting each campaign is a canon story, which shows how bad things are getting in sub-sector Aurelia in the absence of Gabriel Angelos and his Company.
Which of course, would set up a triumphant return for them in Dawn of War III.
And then the Blood Ravens become exiles, wandering the Imperium slaying enemies until their numbers run dry and everyone dies a martyr.
Grimdark enough?
Which Space Wolves? Leman Russ?
