I'm trying to put together a list of games that don't rely on the motion control gimick to play, i.e. games one that use the classic/gamecube controller, or have traditional controller options (like punch-out).
I imagine it's a short list, but can anyone help point out some of these games?
You can plug in the Classic Controller or GC controller and play RWii4 like that if you are so inclined, though you'd probably be better off just finding a cheaper used Gamecube copy.
Castle Shikigami 3, Ultimate Shooting Collection, No More Heroes 2(though using that option is a terrible idea).
I would of probably enjoyed NMH 1 much more if I had the option to use a traditional gamepad with it. I respect the control system but it really didn't gel with me since I couldn't be as accurate as I wanted and couldn't get the lead character to do what I wanted some of the time with the Wiimote
i never played RWii4; but, if it's like other lightgun games on the system, they don't use motion controls. i mean shaking doesn't do shit for you in most of the games (maybe reload?). all IR.
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, Bit.Trip Core, Bit.Trip Void (I think), Super Paper Mario (I think? I can't remember), MLB Power Pros (mostly, one mode that uses it, but it's a very small part), A Boy and His Blob, Dokapon Kingdom, Opoona (again, I think).
Geometry Wars Galaxies, I think, supports the classic controller. Other than that I can't think of a game in my collection that doesn't at least use the motion controls a little bit.
Is the pointer included in your definition of "motion control gimick"?
Does the game have to have ZERO motion/pointer to it, or is having multiple control options good enough for you?
So you're looking for Wii games that don't use what the Wii was designed for? Why not just play the 360 or PS3 or something?
I don't know. If more games supported the classic controller I'd rather use it, too. I don't know what's wrong with my setup, but motion controls don't seem to agree with my TV and couch setup.
multiple control options are fine, I just don't want to be forced to use motion control to play a game.
As for why I don't stick to other systems, I generally do, but my girlfriend picked up a Wii and I'm looking for games that suit my playstyle.
If you like Mario games then both Super Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros. Wii use motion but they use it sparaingly. In SMG you shake the remote to spin and you can use it to collect star bits, but that's completely optional. In NSMBWii you shake to spin or pick stuff up. So if you don't care about star bits in SMG then in both games you shake but never have to use the remote as a pointer except for selecting the disc channel and starting the game.
Can you play No More Heroes with anything except the Wiimote? If no, then it's 'forced'. Not as in limiting, but as in there is no other option.
What about New Super Mario Bros. then. You have to shake the remote briefly to use the propellor cap to fly but you might be able to beat the game without it. There are also parts where you tilt the remote to move the platforms you're on, but at these points you could go into a bubble and let your girlfriend do the movements and have her get you back out of the bubble and into the game again afterwards so that you never have to move your hand once.
Quite a few games have optional Gamecube or Classic controller support. But not wanting to play a Wii game using motion control kinda defeats the purpose of the Wii, IMO.

It doesn't defeat the purpose of the Wii since it has a lot of nice exclusives regardless, but it does lock you out of a bunch of good experiences arbitrarily. You may as well refuse to play 360 games that require the use of the shoulder buttons. Sure you could find a couple, but why bother?

Agreed. If you're THAT allergic to motion control for some reason, the Wii isn't for you. Move on.

Unless you're stephen hawking, I'm pretty sure your playstyle can include some motion. I agree with most people here, you shouldn't even really bother because the vast majority of good games include at least SOME motion control, and most of the best involve a lot.
Also, what are the RTS games on the 360 that don't use a stupid controller because that's what fits my playstyle.

I was pretty skeptical on motion controls when I got my Wii. I basically got it because my fiancee and I played a demo of Wii Sports at a store and decided then and there we wanted it just for Wii Sports. After looking around for 'real' games, I ended up with quite a few that used waggle to various effect and it's really not much different to using a gamepad. Sitting just like you normally do, just using less thumb and more arm movements.
In NMH the motion control is actually satisfying. You're all like *A A A A* and then swing to chop people's heads off.
If you're looking to avoid the wiimote entirely, you're not going to find a ton of stuff to play. And you're definitely not going to find many Wii exclusives that don't use it.

Yeah, this right here. The controls may not have been the most twitchily precise, but goddamn, slicing a mofo's head off like that just warms the cockles of your heart.

That was not satisfying though
It was just super-repetitive and bland
Anyways, someone already mentioned Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, and I can confirm that this game rules and does it just fine with the Classic Controller
Also Monster Hunter Tri looks pretty neat and it's coming with a Nintendo-brand DualShock basically

Super Paper Mario does use it. I don't think it's required for the most part, but it's needed if you want more points.
Other titles... Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, anyone mention that?
Games that are cross-platform often do, like WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 and Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, but by that same note, if you've got either 360 or PS3, you'll probably want to stick with those versions anyway, particularly in the latter case in terms of motion controls.

Why would you even need this list?

Mario Kart Wii doesn't require any motion control... Yeah that's about it. I have no further knowledge.

define fucking motion control.
for instance, i didn't think no more heroes (never played the second) felt 'forced'

Chances are if it's a Nintendo game, it's going to use it's "gimmick" because that's why they designed the console.
