Getting a poster made?

After a long unsuccessful search for a cool Stevie Wonder poster I think I'm just going to find a picture and have one done. I plan on getting it framed so paper quality isn't a huge deal, but what sort of picture (size-wise) should I be searching for? How hard will it be to find a place that will even be willing to do the poster (I don't personally own any pictures of Mr. Stevland Morris)?

Considering it will be blown up to A2 format, it is rather important the quality of the picture is good.

Every printing-shop can do this sort of things, you'll just have to find one who isn't worrying about copyrights, I suppose. :P Personally stopping by a printing-shop would most likely do the trick, bring some sort of gift with you for bribery and I don't see why anyone would refuse to do it.

Kinda depends on how far away from civilization you live, though.

You'll want one that's at 300dpi resolution. Most computer-related images are 72dpi, and look shitty when printed.

Once you find a good one, you can always go the Rasterbator route. Especially if you're getting it framed.

You'll want a picture that is at least 200dpi when actual size, preferably 300dpi.

The odds of finding a picture of Stevie Wonder at that resolution without approaching an official source is highly unlikely. Then there's the issue that most printers will be reluctant at best to reproduce an image that you don't own.

I have a pretty nice book with some pretty cool pictures in there... I can scan at 300dpi plus, correct? I'm thinking of getting one that'll just be the cover art from Music of My Mind stretched out a bit... I have the booklet, the resolution of that is presumably high enough, correct?

Depends on how big you want the poster to be. Scanning an image out of a book at higher resolutions will mean you'll pick up the printed dots. You can compensate a bit, but if you're blowing it up much bigger than ten or twenty percent you're likely to get noticeable image degradation.
