The original Cave Story took me five years to create, and the testers that were playing the game, they wanted to have something even more difficult than the original stages. So I created the Hell stage, and put so much effort into it that I basically said, “all right, this is the grand finale for Cave Story for now.” And then I wanted to create a few other games on the side, which I was able to in the past few years. So I’m satisfied with that. It’s now been 10 years since the original Cave Story came out, so I’m now thinking that maybe it’s time to start thinking about a sequel for Cave Story. There’s a very, very good chance we’ll see a sequel.
So I think I got towards the end, but I haven't played this game in over a year. It was tough and I got bored.
I killed some women boss, go up or something and I have another boss fight, pretty hard stuff. Is that the end?
Yup! Unless you're going for the best ending.
That Cave Story thing is pretty cool and yet another reason this might be my first portal since the GBA. Though as usual, all this CS love while Iji continues to die a slow death to technical outdating breaks my heart. I can only imagine how cool a graphically updated version of that game would be.

You know what? Nanowrimo's cancelled on account of the world is stupid.
Any tips on the fight? Maybe Super Meat Boy has made me super human enough to beat it.
It varies based on what weapons and upgrades you have. Here are a few quick tips off the top of my head, though.
Once you defeat the third boss in a row (the second boss's second form,) talk to the caged Mimiga's, especially the purple one, a few times. They'll all spawn hearts for a light health update.
For the final boss, don't even worry about fighting him at first. Take out his minions first, especially the one with the martial arts attacks. The second minion summons more regular minions who can be killed for health, xp, and missiles. Farm that for a while before you take that minion out too. With both of them gone, the actual final boss is pretty easy.
Now, going for the best ending final boss is a completely different story.

Man, I loved running Hell for faster times. I think the fastest I got was 3:57. With a keyboard.

I've gotten to the same point in both the WiiWare and PC versions and stopped playing for no good reason. I really should give it another shot sometime soon.
3DS remake looks neat based on the few screenshots I've seen.
It is kind of odd they just didn't go with a 3D version to begin with. People are going to tire of the same game over and over. Still, new content. So, it will probably be fully realized this time around.
So, now that we've got PC, Wii, DSi and 3DS versions to choose from...
is PC still the best? I've heard terrible things about the new music and translation in the Wii/DSi versions, and the videos for the 3DS makes everything really blur together; the pixel art was part of the charm...
DSi Version seems to be a perfect port of the original, same graphics and music. They fixed the new music for the Wii version(the first released had the wrong instruments on the wrong parts), but it's still not as good as the classic stuff.
I'm just confused by the 3DS version. The visual design seems terrible, way to dark. Why are the eggs of egg corridor the visual focus, drawing your eyes because they're the only part of the level you can see!
Though I heard that Pixel may be interested in doing Cave Story 2 now...

I so wish I would have known about this. I totally gave up on that boss in the PC version because he was ridiculous. Forcing you to fight that many bosses in a row with no healing is crap.

Pretty excited about this right here.
THAT SHIT DOESN'T SELL TO THE MASS MARKET, MORONS.

And it's not as if the pixelart versions are disappearing.

I take pride in having done that shit. It was, indeed, Hell. But I fucking did it.
For real. I can be competitive, but this was something where I was proud enough to have just done it. I should look up speed runs of it.
Man up.

Apparently the graphics just look way better on the 3DS than they do in screens.
Also the new music is just so badass awesome:

From comments at other sites, it sounds like people like you are enjoying it the most, so maybe yes.
You don't have pixel art nostalgia for the game yet.
