Can't trust the weather reports at all around here until you actually get outside. Yesterday was supposed to be low 50s and cloudy. Was high 50s/low 60s and nice and sunny. Depends on what you're used to. If you're from somewhere chilly, you may not need a jacket at all. Somewhere warmer, parka and hat.......
40 is above freezing, therefore impossible for any real snow to occur.
Not true if you're walking on certain surfaces, I must say (ice can still form on brick and in some cases wood). Thankfully none of those surfaces are around the Hynes.
Long range forecast, as has been posted previously, says partly cloudy but on the chilly side. Whether or not it stays that way is another story, however, as anyone living here can tell you that the tv weathermen and woman have a bad hibit of calling for a big storm and then nothing happens. If only they could do that the other way around.
I'd play it safe and pack for chilly weather, depending on how long you're going to be outside the Hynes (you won't need the jackets once your in the Hynes).

Speaking of snow, the forecast has updated for snow on friday morning and rain from 10 am to 3 pm.
I use weather.com. It serves me pretty well in Boston. I doubt it will snow, it has to be in the low 20s for us to see flakes and not just really cold rain.
Welcome to New England where on any given day (and it has happened) it could rain, snow, and hail at any moment. This past weekend was really nice weather, I just hope the percipitation calms down enough that the flooding decreases enough to stay dry while outside.

Nota bene: if you're coming in through the western half of the state early tomorrow morning (such as on the Mass Pike) you may have to contend with some snow, although there doesn't look to be any projected accumulation.
damn going to be less than perfect weather this weekend. Rain and chances of snow? Welcome to New England.
Also, looks like we'll be lucky if we get into the 50s, so it will be cold. Not like January or February cold, but you'd be wise to bring a winter (not spring) jacket.
Umbrellas are cumbersome, but you might want to consider bringing a travle umbrella. Note, however, it can get pretty windy in certain parts of the city and if you're unlucky, your umbrella will be destroyed.
About two weeks ago we had some bad wind and several trash cans I passed on my way to the T station were literally overflowing with destroyed umbrellas. In fact, I witnessed a kid's umbrella break and he just threw it into the street and kept walking.
Steady blue, clear view
Flashing blue, clouds due
Steady red, rain ahead
Flashing red, snow instead.
(Except in summer, when it means the Red Sox game is canceled.)
Well, I hear it is currently raining in Boston. I live a few towns north and up here it's snowing. It's cold, windy, and wet, no matter where you are, so please plan accordingly if you're travelling into Boston.

40° is t-shirt and shorts weather. Don't be a [strike]wuss[/strike] silly goose.

Trench coat for sure, my gloves and scarf as well as a second layer of pants/top in thermals. Hmm.
Either way I am looking forward to it but not for walking around in it too much. Haha!
not much above freezing, but sunny!

The BBC is from London where their definition of Sunny is anything that isn't fog or a torrential downpour.
I am being completely unhelpful on these forums today.

I think you'll find that is MY definition also.
And I'm not from London. I'm from 'up north' where the Londoners fear to go.

I HEREBY ORDER MOTHER NATURE NOT TO SNOW!!!!!!!!
That is all.

Wait about an hour and a half. This half of the state has some grey we'd like to send your way.
