Looking to trade a small stuffed bear

Hello everyone,

You all probably don't know me, seeing as PAX East is my first convention, and I'm relatively new to the forums, but hey. Come on.

A while ago, a decided to try my hand at that "One Red Paperclip" bit. For those of you that don't know what that is, a man from Canada a few years back took a red paperclip, and started trading it for things, in the hope of ending up with a house. He first traded the paperclip for a pen, then the pen for a doorknob, then that for a camp stove, and so on and so forth, until he ended up with a house, completely for free.

So, I got myself a paperclip. I think it was pink. Anyway, I've done a few trades now, nothing spectacular, and nothing near to the networking extent that the Canadian guy did it, but I'm quite enjoying it. Though, explaining the story behind it every time someone asks is kind of a bother.

I've taken a "let's see where this goes" attitude with this, meaning that I have no real goal, I'm just looking to see what cool things I can trade.

So, after that long-winded intro, here's my point:

I've currently got this small, white, stuffed bear.

And, I'm looking to trade.

I figure PAX East might be a good venue to try and get a few things moved around, and hey, maybe I can trade with people here a few times.

I'm going to be at PAX East Thursday night and all three days of the actual convention. If anyone is interested in this unbiasedly adorable bear, let me know. Post in this thread, send me a PM, or email me at steve.brayer@gmail.com. Defer to the email address if it is during the convention.

You should totally have a photo and make a photo log of your trades, complete with little stories about the people who traded for what, etc... would be a little more work but you'd have a cool little keepsake of the whole thing.

In all seriousness might be fun to track the weird crap you can trade for... my paper clip and penny offer is still on the table though... if you bump into me let me know... though what you'll get for a paper clip and a penny might be less than what you can get for a bear.... but that's your problem :P

50 More Trash: Heh. I started laughing hysterically at your first post. Sorry, but I think I'll have to decline. On the other hand, I may have something entertaining to trade you for your paperclip, if you are really doing this.

I had thought about keeping track of what I've traded in some form of picture/annecdote sort of way, and maybe I'll start with the bear at PAX East (for the record, you can end up with a teddy bear, and your picture taken with a dashing young man). My problem with every trade before this, was that it was basically : "Hey, you wanna trade me for a [ITEM]?" "...sure". Done.

So, not many interesting enccounters yet, aside from twins arguing over which one got to trade with me, eventually leading to a three-way trade.


Krudler: Nothing interesting. I'm hoping the bear will be a break out item. Let's see, I started with the paperclip, which I traded for a broken purple coloring pencil, which I traded for a working pen... which I traded for... something... that I then traded for a snickers bar. Then, came the three-way trade with the twins. Where I gave one a Snickers bar for a dollar, which I gave to the other for the bear.

Not to say that the bear is worth a dollar! It is a great bear! A FIFTEEN dollar bear, infact, based on the products the company sold online. I got it at a trading discount, since the girl had broken up with her boyfriend, who originally gave it to her....

I'll trade you that bear for a Nintendo DS stylus in the likeness of a Star Wars Blue Light saber. Because you KNOW someone at pax WILL lose their stylus. and have to make a desperate trade. OR 1 packet of seeds that will grow this AWESOME sweet corn its RED grows aprox 18 rows of kernals and harvests in only 75 days! if you sow the seeds on about april 7th youll have fresh picked ruby red sweetcorn in time for the 4th of July!

Woo! So, I forgot to bring the bear yesterday... but I've got it now! Looking to trade. I'm currently in the line for PAX. Unfortunately, I'm in the front and can't see the text board. I'll be walking around and such. If you see me (red ponytail, black hoodie, a bear), even if it's not to trade, say hi. I'll be playing Sinistar at some point, so come play!
