So I played a demo of this game MANY years ago....
Essentially, it was a war startaegy turn based game. In the demo that I played, the level and troops were already picked for you, but, from memory, it was a world war 2 game.
At the beginning of the level, you could place your troops wherever you wanted to within the defined area. You could tell them to go prone, or crouch, or stand. As far as I remember, you could see where their vision was, and would enable you to set up ambushes.
I really have no idea what else to think of. And its not Close combat, or atleast not the ones that I found on youtube.... Please help!
Sounds like it could be Combat Mission (i could be wrong though :P)
Combat Mission was the one where it was in three dimensions, you had time to give orders and fly the camera around, then once you were done with orders you were just an observer for like 90 seconds while the mans tried to carry out your orders, then it would pause again and you could go around re-ordering as needs, then it would start the action again.
Could have been 101st Airborne: Airborne Invasion of Normandy, was basically a squad-level turn based strategy game, and I recall the demo picking your guys for you. And not throwing in the full version's ability to drop your squad like 9 miles apart from one another because someone shot down your plane/your mans jumped early.
