And in this analogy, the BNP are a super-massive blackhole and voting for them makes you a bad person

Although their in roads last time had more to do with people failing to vote for other candidates and less to do with people actually voting for them

Also I'm not really up to date with British politics; what terrible things has Brown done exactly? Apart from inheriting a lot of shit from Blair?

I think Brown's face is his biggest obstacle, he always looks like he's in dire need of a shit.

Which is probably something to do with all the bananas he eats.

It boggles the mind even further that David Cameron is now basically less liked than Gordon Brown.

I actually think that Brown gets a lot of unnecessary stick. Sure, he's not fantastic, but he's committed to a lot of good causes (renewable energy, helping developing countries). He basically inherited the accumulated shit of Blair and, before that, Thatcher.

Not trying to exonerate him, obviously. But I think it's remarkable that everyone is suddenly pinning all of the shit on Brown instead of Thatcher and Blair.

[edit]I mean, for example, he goes out of his way to hand-write letters of condolence to the families of dead British servicemen, and then he gets trashed by The Sun on account of the fact that his handwriting is kinda scruffy and he may-or-may-not have misspelled the dude's name?

    Fuck off, Murdoch.
Well before he was PM he was Chancellor of the Exchequer so it seems reasonable that he's responsible for some of UKs financial problems

No matter what the tories do, they'll always get attacked for all being rich far more then they'll get attacked on actual policy

75% of the people you talk to say they would vote Lib Dem, but the lib dem's don't have the support so they won't vote for them/at all

After 12 years in power, I think that labour can't really blame the economy on Thatcher anymore

Look up your constituency on wikipedia, and see whether the Lib Dems were one of the top two parties in 2005. In which case your vote counts and vote for them. Otherwise vote for the party most likely to implement voting reform in a hung parliament that would let your vote count in the future (that party being Labour).

Disclosure:I am a Labour whore, so take my voting advice with a pinch of salt.

Also, is anyone in the Brighton Pavilion constituency? If so, do you reckon the Greens can actually get in there? Despite their mental science policies, that would be an excellent example of our democracy actually working for once.

    Oh Rupert Murdoch

Onlinereaders will be charged £2 a week to read The Times and The Sunday Times on the web from June, News International announced today.
Both titles will launch new websites in early May, separating their digital presence for the first time and replacing the existing combined site, Times Online.
From June, customers will be able to view www.thetimes.co.uk and www.thesundaytimes.co.uk, for a charge of £1 for a day's access or £2 for a week's subscription.

Payment will give readers access to both sites. The weekly subscription will also give access to certain new applications.

Use of the digital services will be included in the seven-day subscriptions of print customers to The Times and The Sunday Times.

Rebekah Brooks, chief executive of The Sun's parent company News International, said: "At a defining moment for journalism, this is a crucial step towards making the business of news an economically exciting proposition.

"We are proud of our journalism and unashamed to say that we believe it has value.

"This is just the start. The Times and The Sunday Times are the first of our four titles in the UK to move to this new approach."

They'll get attacked on actual policy because their actual policy is stupid - cut public spending, cut tax for the rich, cut funding to the BBC - their policy is a cavalcade of idiocy.

As for not blaming Thatcher - you can't really hold any one person accountable, of course. But I think you can make a pretty convincing case that Thatcher's government set the precedent.

Ideally, I'd like for the Lib Dems to win, but given that that's fairly unlikely, I'm going to say that I'd rather have four more years of Labour than the Tories, at least right now. I don't trust the Tories with the economy at the best of times, and this is pretty much the worst of times since WW2.

I am in this boat too, voting LibDem again probably, it'd be nice to think they've got a better chance. But hey, every vote counts.
