Oh man there no way I can do three PAX a year... and that would hurt my 'attended every PAX that was ever held + Necrowombicon 2001' status. I'm not sure that PA inc. could handle it either.
I live in Texas, and the only reason why PAX Central would be better here than in chicago is that...we could feasibly have a CCST here at any time of year.
But that's it....why the hell do you think I'm moving to WA this year
It took 6 years for it to expand to PAXE... Not saying it would take another 6 years to expand again, but it definitely wont happen for a few more years yet. They still got to perfect PAXE.
Between PAX West and PAX East, I think the US is pretty well covered. In addition to the option of flying to PAX, Texas residents have SXSW, and Chicago-ites have the Midwest Gaming Classic. If there is to be another PAX, I would rather see it go to either Canada or England, preferably England.

it's Chicagoans
and the Midwest Gaming Classic is held in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. as a Chicagoan, I can tell you that no one who lives in Chicago knows where the fuck Oconomowoc is.
we do have Wizard World Chicago and now C2E2, but neither are really gaming oriented.
I don't think this is likely to happen at all- the more you events you have, the more the people have to make their choices, the more fragmented the people get, the fewer vendors attending all of them. Two PAXs are enough planning wise anyways.
I believe EuroPAX has been mooted often by many and I predict it being in France or Netherlands as it's very central. For it to be in the UK would mean it would most likely be in London, a very expensive place Trust me, I know as I live there.
I nominate PAXMyHouse, so that once a year we can have PAX at my house.
You might be thinking:
* Where do I live
* Am I zoned for commercial events
* What would the HOA think
* How do we keep under 21 attendees away from the abundant liquor
* Do I have chairs for 60,000 people
* This is a dumb idea
And while these are all valid concerns, I would like to remind you how convenient it would be for me to have PAX at my house. I wouldn't have to fly anywhere, and I probably wouldn't have to buy passes because I already live in the house.
I'm glad we could agree on this. See you at PAXMyHouse 2011!
the idea of PAX South was brought up in both Q&As, but in the first Mike mentioned that he personally was more interested in EuroPAX, so we'll need to wait and see what happens. i know i'd love for there to be a PAX this side of the pond, though it wouldn't stop me coming back to Boston every year now i've experienced that wonder that is PAXEast.
but as said, it'll no doubt be at least a couple of years before we hear about anymore expansions on the con front. but till then, Prime and East have us pretty well convered i think.

I already had PAXMyHouse West 2010 this past weekend, with a 7 hour panel at PAXApartment. But I would be up for a 2011 version because everyone would be able to wear shorts year-round. I would prefer PAXYourHouse however, because then we could scavenge your booze instead.

I like the idea that you had a "PAXMyHouse West" as it implies you have more than one PAXMyHouse a year.
God, that would be even better! PAXMyHouse Garage would mean one PAX a year when I don't even have to get the living room clean! Much easier to clean the floor, too. Splendid...
While I would definitely support any PAX Central venture--moving back to Chicago in the fall (law school, curses!)--it would crowd the calendar way too much. Honestly, the big con up there is Anime Central, and that's only slightly larger than PAX East, and it's all the way out in the suburbs due to lack of space. Not easy to get to, even for resident Chicagoans.
Personally I'm fine with the two-con system. Of course, this is easy for me to say, as my fiance's parents live in Boston, so we just crashed with them for the weekend :P

I think it would be better if Pax East would move towards a more centrally located area on the East Coast. I.E around D.C.
Would make it much more accessible for the more southerly folks to come up only 1/2 the country rather then all the way across. While still staying in the most heavily populated region of the U.S.

Baltimore, maybe? DC is hella expensive. (I live there now, I know.) It's much harder to get hotels for anything resembling a reasonable price, and convention space is generally pretty tiny. You also have to figure that on any given weekend, you're competing with a half-dozen diplomatic events which usually aren't scheduled more than a few weeks out, so planning any big civilian event on a PAX-like scale is pretty much impossible.

I was just giving a general area since for the most part people know where D.C is less have an Idea where Baltimore is. And our convention center is about twice as large as the Hynes.
I was in one of the Make-a-Strip panels and I believe someone asked if their were any plans for a Pax Europe. Their response was basically they want to elevate PAX east (and yes pax east did have it's flaws) to perfection before they even considered opening up an overseas Pax. I do believe they said they would be interested in opening up new Pax venues (I think Mike specifically said he would like an excuse to travel to Europe every year), but I would imagine it will be many years down the road before it is seriously considered.
I say that to point out that I doubt that they would consider opening up a pax central till after they've ironed out this Pax. And more likely they would probably open up a Pax europe before they opened up a third Pax event in the states. Of course this is all pure speculation on my part and I didn't mean to burst anyone's bubble here. Just wanted to point it out.

Sorry, but the lines at PAXMyHouse West 2010 were just too long. And the panel that started the same time that the doors to convention opened were just ill conceived and poorly planned. I will stick with PAX Prime and PAX East from now on.
Actually I think Dallas would be a better location due to the huge conference center being 20 minutes and 5 minutes from DFW and Love Field airports, respectively. Plus, if people were driving/train riding, you would cut 4-6 hours off the journey by not having to venture that deep into the great state.
Austin would be cool though, great city and interesting people.
I think PAX Central is kind of a silly idea compared to PAX South. We don't need to dot PAX all over the map, what we need is for it to be accessible. Adding another PAX in the north defeats the purpose of making it accessible to more people.
With that said, after a few years when PAX East is running more smoothly, I think a PAX South should be considered. Texas is a good choice. Would make the PAX locations into a neato triangular shape.

While I'd love to have an PAXATX (wow... sounds like something you need laser surgery for...) I'll settle for them coming down for some GDC or SxSW events : )

This pretty much sums up the thread. I mean it seems this time around people are being a little more reasonable about where a third PAX should be held (not like that guy a couple years ago who thought Omaha was a good idea because he lived there). It really comes down to it though that people want PAX to be closer to them.

PAXMyHouse East was at my aunt and uncle's house in Phoenix, which is east of my house in Los Angeles. We even got some con-goers from the retirement community to come over and play Medal of Honor on the Wii.
So now there's 5 PAXen a year, Prime, MyHouse East, East, MyHouse West (same weekend as East) and YourHouse. Having Garage would just be overkill. Let sleeping dogs lie.

Clearly, PAX needs more Overlords before it needs to construct additional pylons.
And PAX Central should be in Indianapolis! We already host Gencon, so why not have it in the Crossroads to America? ;P
