I can't wait for video to hit the web. It sucks that they taped the whole concert but no dvd. Maybe they could release the concert footage as a pay to download?
VGO amazed me - they were nothing short of brilliant. I understand that Prime > East but concertwise East may have won out.
I'm going to be uploading a ton of concert videos over the next few days on my channel. I only got one song from Friday night (Anamanaguchi performing the Scott Pilgrim video game theme tune) and I got a ton more from Saturday night (VGO's Mario medley, the Trololololo bit, a few Paul and Storm tunes, and 5 or so JoCo tunes). Keep your eyes peeled.

At one of the Q&As Gabe & Tycho said they'd talk with the theater sound guys to see if they recorded the audio from the concerts--wouldn't get your hopes up too too much though.
Saw a lot of shakeycam footage being taken, though, so most of it should end up on youtube. I know I recorded the VGO Final Fantasy medley, most of Wil Wheaton's Russian cameo with Paul & Storm, and Still Alive, Skullcrusher Mtn, and Re: Your Brains from Coulton.
The Protomen were fantastic. I sincerely hope they are back again for future PAX's.
Even more fantastic was when they played in the Jamspace on Saturday. They played a couple songs. Then.... which is going down as the single greatest moment of the weekend for me.... they played "Total Eclipse of the Heart". I was amazed. It was awesome. The Protomen are an awesome group of people. After the musical panel my gf went up and gave them all hugs. Good times. I like them more than i already did, if thats even possible.

Thanks Prox, we indeed did film every bit of the concerts with 3 cameras, and though we're not professional, we did get some great footage, much better than last year. And our DVDs will be released for free, of course. I will go over the footage when I get home and try to upload some clips to YouTube as soon as I can.
I'm not sure if you can compare the last PAX Prime show to this one on any discernible level. For those who couldn't attend, last year VGO's slot was filled with Freezepop, performing their last show before one of the founding members was leaving. It took what was a relatively slow Friday night, and transformed it on Saturday to a place where the people on the floor were constantly jumping, dancing, and genuinely enhancing the experience. Panties were thrown.
I guess what I'm trying to say is... jesus, Paul and Storm can't catch a break, can they? Last September, they had to follow up Freezepop's great show, and set up JoCo for an AMAZING set. And this year, they were led in by the VGO (I won't lie, I was crying a little), and again set up JoCo for what was a very good show (though cut far too short by expo hall staff).
The Protomen were fantastic. I sincerely hope they are back again for future PAX's.

Me and my friend only caught Total Eclipse of the Heart - do you know what else they played?
The Protomen: BLEW ME AWAY!!! These guys killed it.
Amanaguchi (or however it is spelled): Kinda boring live, could definitely listen to it. Low energy compared to The Protomen and that might have had a bearing on my feelings for them.
Metroid Metal: These guys shredded hard. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Had it been a different venue and crowd, there would've been a circle pit at one point.
MC Frontalot: Was a lot of fun, enjoyed his set even though I started to pass out during it. Definitely hit the wall during his set.
VGO: Sounded incredible. Amazingly full and well arranged. Their guitarist was out of hand. Insanely talented group.
Paul and Storm: Hadn't heard of these guys before, and I laughed my ass of during the whole set.
JoCo: Again, hadn't really listened to him before but didn't stop me from enjoying his set. Hit the wall again and ended up laying on the ground for the later half of his set.
The Protomen were fantastic. I sincerely hope they are back again for future PAX's.

Well, first they played Unrest in the House of Light and 2nd, shit, how am i forgetting this. It may have been Keep Quiet. But don't hold me to that, i am tired and my memory is failing me right now.

It was Light Up The Night, unless I'm confusing it with their Friday performance
Either way it was totally rad. MAGFest's JamSpace division (the dudes running the room) were keeping the cameras rolling throughout, so you'll be able to see it up on youtube in a week or so!

Nope. Thank you, you are right. I never should have edited my post from Light up the Night to Keep Quiet. Damn. Lol. But yeah, now that you say it was Light up the Night as well.

I loved 'em so much I'm seriously considering buying a Friday pass to this week's anime convention (I think in the same convention center!) just to try and see VGO perform again.

OOOO. I can't wait to see that again.
When I walked by their merch booth Saturday night and saw the "PROTOMAN JAMSPACE 5:45" sign and realized I'd missed it I was a little sad. I wish they had maybe said something during their set.

They didn't know then, I don't think. it was more of a spur of the moment thing. As they apologized for pushing others back in line for playing. The reason i got to see it was quite random. Glad I did. But yeah, the whole show was rather random and unexpected.

I agree with all praise about the Protomen and sorrow at missing their Jamspace Performance which has been posted above. They were in all ways awesome and should definitely return to PAX East. Commander's little whatever it was at the end of Total Eclipse of the Heart made my day (Hi Shade).
With regards to VGO, I don't really know a whole lot of video game music but they were really great. I thoroughly enjoyed their performance. I must note, however, that their encore was very strange. Nevertheless, first acts Friday and Saturdy for the win.
Regarding lack of advanced notice for the Protomen's jamspace show: one of the MAG dudes came up to their booth at around 5 and asked if they'd like to do an "encore set," and Murphy was just like FUCK IT LET'S GO and they left pretty much immediately. I similarly told the rest of my band that I had to "go to the bathroom real quick" and jetted up the escalators before anybody could say anything
The Protomen played three songs in Jamspace on Sat. I only caught video of the second half of the first song (Unrest in the House of Light), but I did get all of the second and third songs (Light Up the Night and Total Eclipse of the Heart).
I have Light Up the Night uploaded already on youtube, taken via shakeycam:
Total Eclipse of the Heart should be up in a day or two. If any are interested in photos from Jamspace and the concerts as a whole (both main & chiptunes), I did snag quite a few (500+) and can drop some links in here when I finish editing.
I've never attended PAX prime, and I was completely blown away by PAX East. All of the bands and staff - and so many of the attendees - really made it worth it for me. Thank you to everyone who came out to rock with us in Jamspace. And for those of you who said hi, I was the girl working in there who was wearing the Megas army bandana most of the time.

Thank you for this extremely valuable information!!! Was so crushed when Tycho said there'd be no DVDs.
