Get In Line Games

I'm ashamed to say as a long time PA reader this is my first entry into that strange nebulous world known as the forums but I really wanted to express how impressed I was at the work of the folks at Evil Genius Productions (best company name ever BTW) with the Get In Line games. If you had told me pre-PAX that some of the most fun I had at the con would be waiting in line why sir I would have called you a liar and a brigand.

I doubt I'm the only one who couldn't keep their eyes off of that clattering green text in the queue rooms. I even had to stop a game of Magic I was playing in line cause I NEEDED to watch those screens(Oh and curse you WOTC for dragging me back into your insidious game with that innocuous little deck in my swag bag).

So sorry for the rambling but I hope you all had as amazing a time at PAX East as I did, and if you feel like posting some of your positive experiences in the queues this seems as good a place as any. Can't wait to do this all again next year!

(And no, I'm not affiliated with Evil Genius or Get In Line games, was just very impressed by their work and wanted to thank them for it somehow)

Met the very best people in line. From the impromptu invites to join games going on around me, to the chatting with my neighbors, and the really incredible queue stuff that happened while waiting for the Saturday Concerts, the queuing was a really positive experience for me.

Having said that, handing out the wristbands for the Saturday Concerts early Saturday morning was unnecessarily disorganized. Wristbands could have EASILY been handed out as people entered where there was the ability to do this in a line fashion instead of the crowding, pushing, crazy fashion it was done in.

Kudos to the EGP from here too! Quick wit, on the spot, great setup of clips and sfx on hand as stuff happened, and worth every penny PA paid them! If I ever happened to need help with a reasonably large crowd I'd budget for them immediately!

They are pretty awesome. We actually met them on the same trip as the Surfacescape guys when we were at the ETC at CMU.

The queue room was enormous fun -- I brought Pride and Prejudice and Zombies with me and was worried about finishing it during all my copious queue time, leaving me nothing else to read. But I only got a third of the way through over the entire con, because the people I met in the lines, and the games and videos in the queue room, were just so much fun!

My only complaint is that there weren't enough screens, really, and I was eventually pushed into a spot where I couldn't see any of them when the queue line compressed. But please, please, bring back the EGP guys, and make sure they have moar screens!

Nice, a response from the Khoo, ya on Sun before the closing I talked a bit with the founder lady of EGP, sadly her name escapes me, but she was wicked nice(and yes I am from Bahston, hence saying wicked) and told me how she met up with the PA folks. She was very appreciative of all the praise I gave her and I hope more events use them to help with their lines!

If you had an awesome time with get in line games at East, you should try them at West.

    Seriously.

I love the games they do, but the quality of them at East was actually lower than that of West IMO. Now, in no way do I think it was their fault though.

It just seems like people were less enthused at East, and the space was much more crowded. I don't know how many times I had trouble seeing the screens <.<... West's location was so much better for this just due to the fact that it was one huge room with a much higher ceiling.

Anyway, Get in line games are absolutely one of my favorite parts of PAX =) I hope they continue coming for all the conferences.

I'll agree that it would have been nice if there were more signs, dont know if that was Evil Genius, PAX or the Hynes that caused that, but hopefully since theyll be in a much bigger convention center next year it wont be as much as a problem in the future.

Also loved the line games and events.
My only suggestion would be this:

The Messy Boards imo were the best part of the line experience. If in the future there were more screens going on, it'd be cool if there was one dedicated to the Messy Boards so people could keep using them while the games were going on.

Either way, EGP made a lot of waiting a lot of fun. Thanks!
