Hey any of you bros here about Darkfall

Darkfall is a game about filling bars really slowly by doing repetitive actions so that you can hunt down your fellow man and kick his shit in and take all his stuff.
Darkfall is a pvp mmo with full loot, castle building, blahblahblah its basically UO + shadowbane + morrowind
WHATS IT GOT:
* Role-playing, strategy, and shooter action in a MMOG
* The largest handcrafted online world of its kind.
* Over 10 thousand concurrent players per game world.
* The largest MMORPG battles ever - involving thousands.
* Ultimate PvP action, the #1 choice of top players and clans.
* Seamless, zoneless, non-instanced world. No invisible walls.
* No safe zones. Full loot. PvP everywhere with accountability.
* No more leveling. Improve the skills you use.
* Fight on mounts, ships, man cannons and vehicles.
* Siege and conquer cities, build and protect your own.
* Craft any item in the world and put your name on it.
There's a $1 7 day trial on the website right now, I just picked it up a bit ago. I'm pretty enthralled by the potential. The world is huge and really feels well put together.
There are no floaty names or targeting so to find mobs and other players you have to look for them. No such thing as aggro, the mobs use real LoS to come find you and they'll gang up on you and shit. Gotta sneak around in the shadows and areas to avoid detection from both mobs and players.
There's some pretty cool design decisions that make inventory kind of annoying to deal with but it also means that you have to be careful about where you're looting and who is around you.
It pretty much plays like morrowind but in an mmo world where the focus is killing other dudes.
Everything is player made, the economy and player politics are modeled on EVE I think
You can own ships from small rafts up to 50 cannon ships of the line
it doesnt play like shit I've been enjoying it so far
You're only allowed 1 character per server, which is pretty cool.

TO PLAY:
Server: NA-1,
the races are kind of set up sort of allied faction things, but it won't matter in the end. I'd suggest maybe we all roll human/dwarf/elf if anyone is interested in checking this out
Players
Kovak - Human - Bigg Johnson
Posts
haven't encountered any rubber banding or lag spikes or anything so far
game plays pretty smoothly
I question you, Kovak
question
can I play this with you americans from europe or american't I
as in the focus of the endgame is player controlled territory and clan warfare
and the economy is entirely player driven
not sure on playing from europe
i know there are european servers but you might be able to log into american ones anyway?
it was developed largely in greece but i think they moved there from sweden
Actually I think I'm thinking of another game.
arrows have a kinda realistic arc to their flight
there's no levels or classes your character can do everything eventually
It was so glitchy and laggy that I haven't tried to play it in a while. They've patched it up quite a bit but meehh
Games need to get they own names.
That's pretty much reason enough not to.
you're thinking of wurm
which some of us still play
eventually I burned out and forgot about it
and then suddenly it is out and now I'm all meh on MMOs
if you enjoy a bug ridden world filled with exploiters, endless macroing and a broken economy, it will be right up your alley though
UO, you say?
Buggy and most of things are most easily gotten by exploiting.
I'm dl'ing like 20 patches for Mortal Online right now, I'll let you know if this thread is still up when I play it tonight
It was decently fun running around it with my brother, but the combat was too laggy to really do anything, and the countrysides weren't all populated yet. Very nice terrain, though.
It's fun, and totally open PvP. It's also a bit more about skill > gear/class/race/etc, instead of the opposite like how every other MMO seems to do it.
It's along the lines of EvE in that time spent = more in-game skills, so people often just make macros and let it do things for them all day while they're at work. My friend does this, and he's always bragging how he's got 80 archery skill or whatever.
Because the idea of a fortified position behind a waterfall just thrills me
"Think of it as Evolution in Action"
Come build your castle, my lord :winky:<3
there's designated locations at places like behind waterfalls if i remember correctly
also they've really cracked down on some of the hacking apparently, I haven't played enough to know
they've been banning via billing information so that you can't even come back and play again without jumping through a lot of hoops
the game looks a lot better when you're playing it, the graphics have grown on me and the world is fairly detailed
I don't know. So far I'm having fun, the world has got an everquest feel to it rather than WoW
I can't wait to have my ass handed to me and lose all my stuff

also the first sunset I saw in this game was hella cool
the shadow effects are tangible
