I need paper (semi-urgent)

Alright. I know you can do this.

My thesis exhibition is in under 5 days. I need a giant roll of paper atleast 36" wide, and anywhere between 200ft-1000ft. What am I doing with it? Binding a huge fucking book. It needs to be of a decent quality. I am fine with brown/white paper. I have used craft paper before, but I would prefer a higher quality, low gloss (no printer paper), somewhat heavy paper. I am willing to drive at least 100 miles to pick this up.

This is the centerpiece of my show, and needs to be bound and ready to go by Monday night (process will take about 10-12 hours).

I tried staples, and all they have is really shitty thin butcher paper and large format printer paper, which is grossly overpriced and too glossy. I need fast shipping. Any experience in shipping from companies would be nice to know.

Please help me H/A, you're my only hope.

Have you tried some sort of an art supply store?

I live in the middle of southern illinois. The nearest major art supply store is in St. Louis. Our local store only has 10yd rolls of high quality watercolor paper, which run about $20 per roll. I need at least 500 feet, and for a better price.

I don't know how the hell you'd get this too yourself by monday, but I suggest searching for Photo watercolor paper, as it will come in rolls made for printers. B&H sells these, but it takes like two weeks to ship.

Yeah, dude, I'm pretty sure you're roadtripping. You said yourself that nothing in the area sells it. Unless there's a publishing company nearby, you're going to be overnighting something for ridiculous amounts of money or driving to a specialty shop in a neighboring state.

What is this I don't even.

(Edit: Beat. Looks like good tips in the post above.)

You didn't leave yourself much time to get hold of something kinda exotic.

I think you are indeed looking for the sort of large paper rolls made for printers. Not like Kinko's printers, I think, but for full-blown printing presses. They can be around 36" wide or more. I'm pretty sure they go more than 200 feet when full, but a full one is sure to cost more than $20 - they may be cheaper per foot than $20/10yd, I don't know.

You may be able to get a mostly-used one (less than half the length of a full roll left) just by asking at such a printer - this is why I picture this as what you want - my dad works at one and has brought extra paper home for art projects before. You probably can't get over 200 continuous feet this way, but you might be able to beg more than one free partial roll.

If low-grade paper would work, your local newspaper's printer would probably have what you want. Whether they'll just sell you a roll off the street though, I have no idea.

May also want to search for plotter paper in your area. I don't know if it'd be any cheaper, but it should be available somewhere. Office supply stores maybe?

Anywho... good luck on the hunt.

    Maybe this place: http://www.buyrolls.com/inkjet-plotter-paper-vellum.htm
Don't know what shipping time would be though.

Check Physical Facilities at a college. (Where the engineers and people work). Often they have plotters with large rolls of paper.

Wall paper is a good idea, or possibly fabric. There are many different kinds of fabric and you may be able to get one to look the way you want.

Go to a local stationary store. There is no chance they have it in stock, but they have suppliers who will rush orders for stores.

    Good luck.

Mandel Company in Milwaukee. Quad Graphics in Chicago. They'd have roll paper. I know they are not suppliers, but maybe a friendly call can point you to their supply?
