Advance reviews are...not good.

I'm hoping they are filthy lying geese though, because this movie has a KRAKEN in it and it gets RELEASED.


if you could release a Kraken no one would fuck with you, not the post office, nobody. You're giving me a parking ticket? Ok but...I'll RELEASE THE KRAKEN. Well, as long as they live near or in the water or fly over the water at any point you could threaten them with that thing.

    man, you can't beat claymation with mere digital effects

    at work there's a massive book dedicated to ray harryhausen's life and art and it's really really cool

    i ought to buy it before it gets marked down and some student nabs it

    You can have fast moving action, but it needs to be in sustained shots. Instead they are more classically edited. Now imagine if those action sequences were directed by Paul Greengrass in full on BOURNE SUPREMACY-mode and you begin to get an idea of what watching action sequences in CLASH is like. There is a real, honest to god reason people like Michael Bay are resistant to 3-D – because it changes the way you are allowed to make movies. You have to frame them differently; color them differently; edit them differently. You cannot just take any old film and add 3-D to it, just like you can’t take any old Black & White film and colorize it. But that’s exactly what they did here.

    And it positively destroyed the fucking film. To add insult to injury, they didn’t even color correct it to account for the sunglass-effect of the polarized lenses, making the experience very much like…watching a movie while wearing sunglasses. BRILLIANT!

    i hope 3d tvs stay out for a while so i can pick up a top notch 1080p 50 incher for a reduced, non 3d price. I mean damn, i know people that are still resisting blueray, tons of people.

    A lot of live action movies that get released in 3D have it added in post and it don't look very pretty or impressive. Really the best 3D movies are the ones made digitally, like How To Train Your Dragon, which was great in 3D, and 2D even.

    That being said I thought this movie was fun. Not good, but I liked the action and the Gods and oh man swords.

    The premise of the movie seems to be a very realistic one (Being a super hero would get you killed fast), but the action scenes look over-the-top and ridiculous. How are these things reconciled?
