when is princess mononoke (or indeed any of the older studio ghibli movies) getting a blu ray release
Dunno. It doesn't have a Japanese Blu-ray release yet either. It'll probably come out at the same time here and there since Japan is in our Blu-ray region code while they weren't in our DVD one.
Well no doubt, Avatar was good. District 9 was great, too. Except the Afrikaans accent is really gutteral and hard on the ears for extended periods of time.

A few in Japan. Nausicaa's due out in July, Ponyo's out in a few different varieties, they have Castle of Cagliostro and Meitantei Holmes, but none of these have any English subtitles or dubs listed in the specs here.
Oh, and there's also a domestic Blu-ray for Ponyo that has dual-language on it. Actually four-language, as it's also got a French dub/sub and a Spanish sub.
Hm, the movie felt so off at times, I couldn't tell whether it was the editing combined with inconsistencies in characters or what.
Then I read that link someone posted about all the reshoots and how 2/3 of the gods were cut - I was so confused that all the gods were there, and NONE OF THEM SAID ANYTHING EVER.
Well, let's hope for a possible DC on bluray.
At least I got my share of Kraken.
Oh 2D by the way, for the known reasons.
ninjaedit: I don't see how the theatrical cut better manages to set up a sequel/trilogy than the shooting script.

no, but I can see how you would be confused because 2099 is the number of times this joke has already been made

The Navi should have all been Tom Cruise people instead of cat people.
