I just got a pair of these puppies and I have ti know what games truly make use of surround sound? I tired MW2 and it was like a total different game being able to hear where the gun fights are goin on in multiplayer.

But what games really come alive when you have a decent set up? I have a ps3 and 360 and PC. I assume Metal Gear is a must but other then that I have no clue what I should try

Dead. Motherfucking. Space. That game will leave you paranoid for weeks in surround sound.

Yeah, I was gonna say Metal Gear. Heavy Rain is great because it's so immersive, the sound just helps you feel like you're there.

Also, IMO, the sound design in Battlefield Bad Company 2 blows MW2's out of the water. My jaw dropped the first time I got shelled while on one of those atvs.

Rogue Squadron 2 and 3. At least if you want to be buzzed by TIE Fighters.

Except you can't cause you don't have a GC apparently. Or Wii. Were they ever released on PC?

Bad Company 2 has some of the best sound going for any game at the moment.

Dead Space has already been mentioned, but Left4Dead is also great in surround. Having it is a huge advantage for your team because you can zero in on hidden special infected and shoot them through walls/doors. A good player with surround sound may as well be using wallhacks.

System Shock 2. Dark Engine had an amazing sound engine.

I've yet to try it myself, but Doom 3 should sound really good with proper surround sound. Dead Space is good too, but the music that plays whenever you see an enemy (which is often) is just plain annoying.

I have those puppies, too, so obligatory internet high five.

    *high-five*

But yeah, BF:BC2 is totally awesome with surround. You WILL flip the fuck out when you hear that *snap* followed by a bullet whizzing past your head.

I should try Dead Space but I was paranoid enough playing that game and I don't think my bowels could handle it.

I came to mention Dead Space and Bad Company 2 and see they were already well covered.

    Fine work gentlemen!

Dead Space has one of the best sound mixes in a game, ever.

I was going to say this very thing; the only game that has ever seriously creeped me out was System Shock 2, and the audio was far and away the biggest contribution.

Put Bioshock on that list, too - there was some excellent sound design in the game.

Lumines Live! should also be a priority with the new speakers. It is only 400 points this week according to Cheap Ass Gamer.

Doom 3 is a bit of a way to give yourself a cheap scare. Not that much fun as a pure shooter though.
