okay. ANOTHER holiday thread by me. I apologize. But you guys have really made sure both my senior trip to NY and my paris engagement trip went flippin' fantastic. So here i am again.
PA-forumer opinion > Tripadvisor-retard nitpicker's opinion
So me and my fiance are planning a trip to East-Canada, rounded off with a short stint in NY so i can show her the highlights. Thanks to past posts i've got the NY bit down. The canada part, not so much.
about our interests: graphic designer and pharmacist. I like art and books, she likes accessable art, nature and light science.
We have about 11 Days near the end of july. I've been checking books, tripadvisor and the forum archive and i got this:
Flight to Montreal
1) Montreal 2 nights: Botanical Gardens, Notre Dame, Jean talon Market, Vieux montreal, Mont Royal, Fina Arts museum, Biodome.
then rent a car.
2) Somewhere near the 1000 islands, 2 nights. I'd love to rent a small sailing boat for a day. I gues i'd have to go to kingston? guaquanoque? Anything else to do in that region? so far i have sailing and kanooing.
3) Algonquin park, 2 nights, stay in the park, hike and/ or kanoo. Chill. Anything else to do there?
Return rental car because..
4) Toronto, 3 nights. The ROM, CN tower, St lawrence market.. That's about all i got. The Science centre?
then bus to niagara falls, 1 night. i guess what to do there is pretty obvious, or are there any hidden gem thingies there?
and then bus to buffalo the next day, fly to NY, have a blast and return home.
So if i'm missing any great activities/ things to see in one of these cities, i'd really appreciate the input. or even just beautiful spots to chill.
Also, what are decent places/ franchises to eat in the city? American tv taught me a lot of household names for the US, but my knowledge of canada cuisine is lacking. What to eat, and Where?

If you like amusement park type things, Canada's Wonderland is right near Toronto, and Marine Land (whales and dolphins and whatnot) is in Niagara Falls.
In Montreal, you should check out the view from Mount Royal if you're into that kinda thing.
EDIT: In Montreal, eat some poutine. It's kinda their thing.
- Pacific Mall, Steeles and Kennedy... A giant Asian Mall... Stores practically the same thing... but at least you'll see a lot of Asians. Also... you can crack your phone, get your Ps3, Wii, Xbox Modded and buy lots and lots of bootlegged games.
- Downtown Eaton Center also sells a lot of stuff.. but they are all legit.
- Wonderland : Our very own Amusement Park on Hwy 400.
- There's Nothing much at the distillery district... it's pretty small, but they do sell all kinds of beer.
- The only thing going for Toronto is FOOD:

For Niagara region... check out Casino Niagara, or research the winery around the place. This year isn't that great for Icewine, but our red isn't that bad this year.

If you are looking for something else in the way of food, some good places are:
Pizza: Tony's
Poutine: Bubba's
Sushi: Sima Sushi
Thai: The Wok In (This is just a review site, they don't seem to have a website)
If you drink there are tons of bars (though they aren't all awesome), and depending on what you are feeling, here is a list I go to sometimes:
Clubish: mybar, The Grizzly Grill
Pubish: Tir Na Nog, The Brew Pub (makes a lot of house beers which are excellent)
Sit Down and Drinkish: The Toucan
Watch Sportish: The Brass
Other attractions are Old Fort Henry
I'm sure there are other things to do in Kingston, just not things that I do.
And in Gananaque there is a small casino. But thats about it.
I wont comment on food since I seem to never have heard about the restaurants other posters are suggesting.
Steam: CavilatRest
ED for Toronto
ED2 also check out the beaches, it's actually really nice in the summer
