"which" is the name of the game. it is scary as all out.
it must be the ambiance that gets me, but damn, it is worth a playthrough.
i'd say it's the scariest indie game i've played.
this is what happens when games get the environment right.
(it's also in stereoscopic 3D, if you got the glasses for it)

    yeah, I got about this far too, I saw that this headless thing had the key, and it would follow me around, but I wasn't sure what to do after that. I suspect I have to lead it somewhere and then...do something. Not sure what though.

    a little spoiler to help you along, in order to open door number 1
    in the kitchen on the first floor, open the top cabinets. a key will fall out. this will open up door 1. you can find another key in that room.
    seriously, this game made me shit bricks
