Computer Woe - XP Updates [Problem Resolved]

I'm not keen on making computer problem threads, but I don't know where else to turn. I can't seem to find the answer to this problem. At first, my PC kept restarting constantly, yet would stop when I wasn't connected to the internet. I had tried everything, even downloading and install some XP updates in between. Kaspersky did a scan, however, and noticed a file called Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Small.edb which it promptly cleaned for me.

And so I'm here now, no restarts, except when I try to install windows updates. Every single time I try to do that, it restarts my PC. When I had downloaded and began installing XP updates in between the original crashes, the process got interrupted by a crash. The 11 updates that are left say they are downloaded, but I'm thinking they got corrupted somehow. Is there any way I can delete them? I can't find how or where anywhere.

Damn, I just got a system shutdown pop-up and I have no idea why. I don't have MSBlaster or Sasser, and Kaspersky already found and deleted any trojans or viruses. Angry!

You have a virus or trojan. Its pretty common behavior for malware to block windows update from running.

No one program will eliminate all malware. Get some other programs and keep scanning.

Any recommendations? I've tried Symantec's and Windows Sasser and MSBlaster scanners with no luck. Kaspersky picks up nothing, nor did AVG.

Did you scan in safe mode?

Yes, but it's too late now. I did a format. Luckily I didn't have much installed already before, but it's still going to take forever to install all those Sims 2 expansions. ^_^
