Weird Ear Problem

Alright, guys and gals, I have a strange problem with my ears and I doubt you'll be able to help but I'm at the end of my rope (okay, not really, but still).

The problem is this: whenever I excersise or do anything to get my heart rate up and blood pumping, my ears plug up and I can barely ear anything. It's an extremely unpleasant and annoying sensation and it's pretty much caused me to give up on working out or doing any manual labor whatsoever.

Luckily, I have good genes and will probably never weigh more than 140 pounds in my entire life, otherwise I'd probably be a fat bastard by now.

Bit of background: it didn't always used to be like this. I grew up in a gymnastics family so that's always been a big part of my life and besides that I've always enjoyed skateboarding and what has to come to be called "parkour" today, though we used to just call it "running around and jumping."
Also, it should be noted that I am a smoker (I know, I know) and it's possible that the ear troubles started when I started smoking but that was so long ago that I'm not really sure if the events are related or not.

Anyway, I've been thinking about working out again lately but I always just quit before I even start because I don't wanna deal with my stupid ears.

So please, brilliant and attractive forumers, tell me what is wrong with my treacherous ears.

This is really something that an ear, nose and throat doctor needs to answer. Or maybe even a cardiologist, since it sounds like a blood pressure issue.

On the subject of ears, on occasion it'll feel like one of my ears has something in it, almost movin' around a little? Then when I take a Qtip to the sucker I don't get anything. No Wax, no nada.

What does internet doctor say about this concerning symptom?

You should probably go see one of my real-world counterparts.

Body size has nothing to do with blood pressure, by the by. And smoking can certainly raise your BP.

    Well.

You should never use a q-tip in the ear canal, ever. Go to a doctor or buy a flushing kit.

I doubt it's purely blood pressure related, there are things that can cause you to go "deaf" that aren't really involved in the ear at all. Adrenaline can do it for example.

You still need to see a doctor, there's no way to diagnose this shit over the internet.

Sure you don't just have some wax in there? Go find a professional to look in your ear.

Could be that the blood vessels in that area are dilating, allowing more fluid in and tissue swells narrowing that area.

I would agree that going to see an ENT specialist is probably the way to go. Exercise is a key aspect to healthy living and longevity, and lord knows you need every bit of help you can get thanks to those cancer sticks.

You may have a tear in the membrane of your inner ear or LVAS (fluid shifted around in the head causes issues with pressure and so such).

Basically, your PCP or ENT will be able to direct you to the right place. Pretty common though, especially for strenuous exercise or people who took a blow to the head (like boxing).
