"My commander told me, 'Kill those who need to be killed, and save those who need to be saved'; that was our mission on our first tour," he said of his first deployment during the invasion.
"After that the ROE changed, and carrying a shovel, or standing on a rooftop talking on a cell phone, or being out after curfew [meant those people] were to be killed. I can't tell you how many people died because of this. By my third tour, we were told to just shoot people, and the officers would take care of us."

maybe they would actually try to fight it through propaganda and message control like it should be instead of bombing the shit out of everything, forever
i mean, that's standard practice for asymmetrical warfare and what anyone competent would do

propaganda and message control are meaningless if you don't have the will to utterly destroy dissent which china has proven it can and will do against its own citizens
against a foreign enemy? don't think for a second the lives of those people mean anything to them
a violent insurgency would absolutely be handled the same way if not worse
the message control being, if you don't fall in line, your ass is dead along with every single person around you see here ginormous excessive example

no. countries that tend to have bad human rights at home also have abysmal human rights towards foreign people

And above all of that, it would require a major shift in Chinese military policy for them to develop the kind of force projection needed to get troops outside their immediate sphere of influence. They simply don't have the kind of transport needed for that kind of work. Most estimates say 10 to 20 years would be required for the structural changes needed for it. Being peacekeepers requires the ability to get there. The only reason Canada does as much peacekeeping as it does is because we move their people and equipment to those locations.
Ok, what in the fucking fuck is wrong with this guy?

The 41-year-old Arlington man was unemployed, drinking and could no longer afford the medicine that treated his depression. So, in a fit of rage, he bludgeoned his girlfriends pit bull puppy to death with a hammer, drilled holes in his chest and strung him up in a barn by his hind legs. He then called his girlfriend to inform her that she was next.

Good thing he went with the hammer before the drill.
well hey then at least it would reduce the shame of seeing this shit attached to my own country's name
the basic thrust i'm making here is "war is terrible"
shocker, i know
no, it's america
america, period
also war!
but mostly america
you would have to be crazy to be proud of america
There are degrees of pride. I am proud that I can walk around outside without worrying about being murdered. I am proud that I can be open about religion and get little more than maybe scorn if I really rip into someone else's beliefs. I'm proud of THE KFC DOUBLEDOWN OH MY GOD DID YOU GUYS SEE IT THERE IS SO MUCH MEAT!!!!!
We're not exactly Somalia or Iran over here. We have some things to be proud of.

This country has a lot of shit wrong with it, i'm not ready to fault us for not figuring out how to fight a bloodless war yet.
if it were any other country then it wouldn't be america
then i could look at the news and go, "whew, look at those assholes, i'm sure glad i don't have to feel responsible for what they do"
that must be a nice feeling

Ironic given China's not so distant history.

though it would still be mitigated by how horrible we are in pretty much every other respect compared to a first-world country
