readin this article on current military practices
Jason Wayne Lemue is a Marine who served three tours in Iraq.

"My commander told me, 'Kill those who need to be killed, and save those who need to be saved'; that was our mission on our first tour," he said of his first deployment during the invasion.

"After that the ROE changed, and carrying a shovel, or standing on a rooftop talking on a cell phone, or being out after curfew [meant those people] were to be killed. I can't tell you how many people died because of this. By my third tour, we were told to just shoot people, and the officers would take care of us."

propaganda and message control are meaningless if you don't have the will to utterly destroy dissent which china has proven it can and will do against its own citizens
against a foreign enemy? don't think for a second the lives of those people mean anything to them
a violent insurgency would absolutely be handled the same way if not worse
the message control being, if you don't fall in line, your ass is dead along with every single person around you see here ginormous excessive example

And above all of that, it would require a major shift in Chinese military policy for them to develop the kind of force projection needed to get troops outside their immediate sphere of influence. They simply don't have the kind of transport needed for that kind of work. Most estimates say 10 to 20 years would be required for the structural changes needed for it. Being peacekeepers requires the ability to get there. The only reason Canada does as much peacekeeping as it does is because we move their people and equipment to those locations.

I am proud that I can be open about religion and get little more than maybe scorn if I really rip into someone else's beliefs.
