Honestly I hope that he actually announces Shadow Complex 2 tonight
You know, I'd honestly be happy with either game. Hell, Shadow Complex 2 would give me an excuse to use this 1600 point card I got for Christmas.
I should go back and play Shadow Complex when I get some free time.
I actually just started an Insane Shadow Complex play through. Luckily, my first play through was 100% (so all golden bars), so I get access to the gold weapons when I start. Helps quite a bit on insane.
Playing Gears 2 right now. If they fix the lag in multiplayer it will become my favorite game ever. Been trying to get into some Halo 3 multi the last couple days in anticipation of the Reach beta and man I love the lag free play and stat tracking but the actual gameplay just pales in comparison to Gears for me. I need Gears multiplayer that works right... do it Epic.

Apparently Bulletstorm is on PC as well as consoles. I guess there goes the 'We won't do more Gears games on PC due to piracy' excuse.

Bulletstorm is being made by "People Can Fly" though, which Epic only has a controlling stake in. I'd imagine it was sort of a begrudging parent kind of situation. "Well, if you REALLY want to do a PC version, I'm not going to stop you..."
It might be worth noting that people Can Fly did the porting and new content for the PC version of Gears1. Apparently Epic liked their work so much, they bought the controlling stake.

They could at least let them port the sequels then. Assholes.
So as someone completely new to Gears (just got a 360 pretty recently) is the story/gameplay offline good enough to buy 1&2 before I inevitably buy this?
I mean, they're both dirt cheap by now, and I doubt I'll play them online, so it'd be the SP that matters.

Eehh... I'd say just buy Gears 2. The story is garbage in both, but the gameplay and visuals are refined in the second.
I'm not sure why you don't want to play online, but some online Horde is fantastic with the right people. Add me and we'll play sometime: Sleeping Lesson

Oh, I just figured that the competitive MP has to be dead by now, and wasn't sure if anyone was still doin co-op around here.
So I can probably just Wikipedia the story synopsis for the first one or something without missin too much?

Reading a synopsis would probably make more sense than playing the game, actually. Though I'd say it's worth getting the first one if you can either A. Get it for 10-15 bucks or B. Have a buddy to play through it with in co-op. (Local, splitscreen co-op is available.) The game is short (Like 6-8 hours, tops), but very tight, and there's little references throughout the sequel that you won't get unless you've played the first game. It's not a must have, as the second game blows it out of the water in every category, but playing them together makes for a slightly stronger experience.
Horde mode is where it's at online, though. If you aren't familiar, it's just fighting off wave after wave of AI enemies, who get increasingly more numerous and difficult. No MP "community" required if you have a couple others to play with.
I briefly entertained the idea of going back to Gears 1 and 2 and trying to get all the achievements. After realizing what I'd have to do to get the "Seriously!" achievement in Gears1, I promptly lost any and all desire to even bother trying.
For those of you not familiar with this, I'll explain why this is ridiculously hard. The achievement is to get 10,000 kills in online, RANKED matches. Also, only kills in non-respawning game modes (As in, if you die, you have to wait until the end of the round to come back) count towards this total. Someone did the math: If you averaged at least 1 kill a round (Keeping in mind you're not only fighting against the 4 guys on the enemy team to accomplish this, but you're also in competition with the 3 guys on your own team as well.) it would take something like 400 hours. Good. Fucking. God.
No way in hell I'd bother with that now; especially since the only people playing Gears 1 these days are probably super-good at it.

Just because the achievement is named what it's named, doesn't mean it doesn't suck. I hate nearly impossible achievements, they suck. They aren't fun or interesting for 90% of a developers player base.
I liked Gears 1 and 2 enough to complete them but I didn't think either were that good. I will probably finish Gears 3 and wonder what the fuss was all about a third time. The hilariously tacky plot, stupid characters and dialogue are a guilty pleasure at this point. Hopefully they won't overdo the turret and vehicle sections this time around or at least not combine that with frozen lakes.
The games felt like those 80s-90s action flicks where the hero would off a bad guy and make some wiseass comment. I was okay with this.

But all the same, there it is. Not a lot of people have it.

the original was what convinced me to buy a 360... but i never ended up owning it. After playing Rainbow Six: Vegas i couldnt go back to the "binary" cover system of gears.
horde mode was fun at a few parties though.
I assume though i might actually try and get interested in this one though.

That's not even near as bad as that DLC Level 100 multiplayer achievement in Gears 2. Assuming you didn't glitch your way to the General level, that's 7 million xp and 10 bazillion hours you'll never get back. Especially assuming you're only earning 1000-2000 per match in a gametype with 1:1 xp earned to rewarded. I remember blazing from 35 to 50 during the double xp week last summer and thinking 100 was within reach with a few weeks of multiplayer, only to find out that my measely 100,000xp wasn't even a 1/10th of the way there. Furniture was overturned posthaste. Fuck that noise.
In regards to the trailer, is it just me or are all the characters older by what appears to be 10 year at least?
Also finally a lady Cog
Pretty sure they should have let GoW3 trailer lead the show out.... This guy is a "comedian"? (maybe his act doesn't clean up well... or something, I hope)
am i the only one with the feeling that everybody is going to die at the end
i mean they nuked the hive twice and that didn't work apparently
they need to find the other five horcruxes first
alternatively they must mate with the locust until their differences are forgotten because dollars to donuts that locust queen is somehow related to marcus
So, double barral shotgun, Lambent enemies that can mutate while you fight them, and some female soldiers. (Though the novel and most recently the comic has had female soldiers, it's nice to actually get them in game.)
Trailer was cool. More "Rendezvous," less "Last Day."

If they do, the time they have left would be the perfect time for Dom and Marcus to share a tender kiss.
