Help me remove my cat's fur

With the rate of hair she's dropping right now (It's starting to get real warm here) it's as if every time I comb her, I remove 1/3 of her bodyweight. But next day it's the same thing.

I'm currently using this:

But I would really like something that REALLY pulls out all the dead hair, what can you recommend? If possible, stick to PetEdge, since it's where I commonly shop for accessories.

Her fur is so soft!

Furminator worked real well for me and my dog. It's expensive but it works.

    Vacuum Cleaner?

What I want is to remove the hair from her, before she spreads it all over the house.

    Edit:

The furminator! I saw that on a TV ad once, and never again. I tried Google but couldn't find that exact tool. Seems like the way to go, but if someone else has anything to chime in, please do!

I bought a set of dog clippers yesterday and it came with a battery operated shedding tool. However, I have no idea how it works yet, as I have not had the opportunity to use it on him.

edit: Oh. The shedding tool I got was a lot like the furminator.

There are attachments that comb and suck the fur off; probably more for dogs, though.

I have a furminator for my cat; he's less than enthusiastic about it. He'll tolerate one of those loop combs for a short time, but really hates everything else.

My dog is a yellow lab, and I heard they shed a lot, so I didn't think anything was weird when I could brush her forever and the next day she'd still shed like crazy. Turns out it was a food allergy or something, and it stopped when I switched her to a special food. I don't know if it's unusual for your cat or whatever, but it might be worth looking into if it's more than a summer thing.

yea the furminator is great. we use it on our 2 cats and the dog. however i think it works better on our guy with long hair. the thing that works best for our short haired is a zoom groom

yuo can find it at most chain pet stores

I have a furminator thing (don't know if it's the exact brand, but the metal brush/comb part looks the same) for my cat, and it gets a ton of hair when I brush her with it, but she'll give up another ton the next day.

I have the Kong Zoom Groom, and it's great. You generally end up with a nice pad of ex-fur, and no moulting for days!

The cats put up with it :P

    Ah! Great replies :D

I'll get the Kong, since it's cheaper and see how it works out. If it's not too good (I doubt it) then I'll go ahead and get the furminator as well.

    Thanks!
