No mention of URBAN ASSAULT in here, which is a shame shame shame. Although I don't know how you'd go about finding a copy anymore. Outstanding Action RTS that came out in 1998, it got bundled with the NVidia TNT2 32meg card that came with my desktop. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_Assault

EDIT: And I see that I totally missed it a page or two back. I am a goose. Carry on sirs.

I've heard Mount and Blade is excellent.

I'm a fan of Airmech, which is F2P.

Holy shit, this is an old thread. And I haven't checked in on it in awhile and now I'm going to check out some of these games just for shits and giggles.

Also, this game I've been thinking about recently isn't the blend of action and rts we've been talking about, but Stratosphere was a pretty cool game. You had a flying island fortress and you had to design it's shape and where the guns and engines and shit were placed and then you took it out into the world and had to accomplish objectives like assaulting other fortresses or destroying land bases and the like. It even had online play and it was pretty cool. A friend of mine had a disc for it, I should see if he still has it and if not I'ma look for a copy on Ebay.
