Now, I'm a drummer, and I have a Roland TD-6, and I want to actually hear myself without headphones. Is there some kind of sound system/speakers that I can buy for my drumset that sounds good, and won't cost $400?

I got a used Yorkville NX25P for $250ish, works great for jamming or as a monitor and as a bonus you can use it for vocals as well. You'll be wanting a powered PA speaker like this if you're wanting to do more than hear yourself solo and looking quickly it seems like you'll be having to hunt down a deal or second-hand to get under your price point.

Would any old set of computer speakers be fine? I'm not looking for anything to perform with, I'm just sick of using headphones.

Yeah, you'll probably have to get a jack adaptor to go from 1/4 to 1/8, but you could use any type of speaker you want.

Get a decently powered 2.1 computer speaker setup and you'll hear yourself over the sticking fine.
