Sort of an odd request (concert companion needed, NYC area)
So tomorrow night (4/20/10) at The Highline Ballroom in NYC, I'm going to see a concert performance by this man:
The Tallest Man On Earth
Ever the concert optimist, I jumped at the chance to buy tickets to the show a few weeks ago. I bought a pair, assuming I'd find someone to go with me by then. But then has now arrived and it doesn't appear that I'll have anyone to go with me tomorrow. I'm not really sure what to do in situations like this, so I've turned to the internet for help. Yes, I'm that desperate.
So who's potentially up for a concert ticket? Let me know if you're interested. I'm going to ask around elsewhere, online and in real life, so there's a chance this could all be for naught.
There's no shame in going to a concert alone. I'm going to see Porcupine Tree by myself in a couple weeks. My wife wouldn't like them and none of my friends would either. I'd rather go alone and enjoy music I like rather than having to worry about it someone else who doesn't know the band is having a good time.
I bought one ticket. Don't worry about it.

the issue is he has an extra ticket, not that he is unable to buy a solo ticket
Go alone and enjoy the empty seat next to you void of elbows?
Actually, I'm confused about this. I've been to this venue before, but it was to see Jonathan Coulton. There were tables and chairs for people to sit with one another and eat before the show (there was a minimum amount of $ we had to spend, or something) but I'm not sure if they do that at every show. I almost went to see The Donnas and was confused as hell as to what the layout is. The site says "Full dinner menu available / General Admission Standing Room Only / All Ages" so I'm wondering if they're gonna force us to buy stuff again. I saw a different band at a different venue, and that place had a bar in front and the performance area in the back. That I can sort of understand.
Sounds like maybe there are no seats for the cheap seats.
Yeah, but it's the same price for all the tickets.
Anyway, found this on their site:
We are committed to bringing our patrons the finest in entertainment and exceptional food. We offer full menus for standing and seated shows. On our menu for seated dinning we offer a wide range of appetizers, entrees and homemade desserts. For our standing shows we have limited seating where we offer a full menu. We also offer a standing menu that compliments our bar drinks and is designed to be enjoyed while viewing concerts during our standing shows. Join us for brunch on Sundays. Menus and food are designed by Consulting Chef Erik Blauberg.
