My wife gave me a ps3 for my birthday. I have Fallout3 and Borderlands so far, and would like to purchase a headset. I understand you can use pretty much any bluetooth headset around. I have noticed there are dozens though. Ones that have an earbud, that goes into your ear canal, ones that have sort of a loop that sits on your ear lobe, etc.
What is a good, comfortable headet for under 50 dollars? I have small ears, so I am iffy about the ones that go in the ear canal.
The official headset is hard not to recommend, but I will point out that it's bigger and far heavier than other headsets out there. If you're okay with that, it's excellent. Goes for $50 Canadian normally, I think it should be the same or $5 cheaper in USD.
I wouldn't recommend the official headset. I bought one and am not all that satisfied with it.
I mean, it works fine, I think, but it's not that comfortable and you can probably get something else for less money that won't stick a sharp corner into your ear.
I have the official one and like it. Works great with the PS3, and also works great with my iPhone. Besides the white PlayStation logo it looks pretty generic so you don't look like a jackass using it with your phone.
I find the official one to have the ideal features (able to show battery and other status onscreen), but its comfort is lacking. The thing is just not designed for comfortable wear.
If I played more games that used the ingame voice, I would be looking into a nice regular BT earpiece instead of the official PS3 one.
Big problem with the non-official ones is that most (all) aren't made with gaming in mind and the mic sensitivity picks up your TV. Sony's has noise cancellation.

I have the official headset, and while it works well, it does KILL to wear after a while. The edges really dig in. Can anyone recommend a good USB headset? I don't mind running a wire from my PS3 at all.
Just be aware that the headsets will only output the voicechat, not the audio from the game itself, so if you have a USB one, get one you can actually hear through, or at least is comfortable to wear with one ear off

Most, if not all. Though some people have complained about some incompatibility.

That, and a lot of them sound like shit. You can usually tell when someone's using an official headset online.
You can also get a wired USB headsets. Those work pretty well.
