I don't know if the PA crowd can help or not, but here goes...

Please read this, and even if you can't personally help, please repost this to Facebook, MySpace, Digg, etc... It means a lot to everyone involved.

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Steven Cockayne. I'm the guitarist and singer for SLOWtheIMPACT and in the picture above is my nephew Elias.

4 months after Elias was born he began having seizure-like tremors. After his first series of hospital vists and many doctors posing theories as to what might be wrong with him, he was diagnosed with blindness and cerebral palsey. For those of you who don't know, cerebral palsey is a generic term used to describe neurological disorders. Basically, doctors didn't know what was wrong with him. They prescribed him medications in an attempt to keep his seizures at bay.

On April 8th, 2010, Elias turned 1 year old.

Within a month of his birthday he was back in the hospital having frequent seizure-like tremors every 3 - 5 minutes. Doctors performed a series of tests including an EEG, MRI and Spinal Tap to try and determine what is wrong with him. They still do not have a definitive answer, but they have determined that whatever is wrong with him is degenerative. His brain is shrinking and has lost 15% of it's mass since November.

He will continue to get progressively worse, and doctors fear he may have less than a year to live.

The costs associated with his care have continued to rise dramatically. Between medical bills, transportation, prescriptions and due to him requiring 24/7 care, the lack of ability for his parents to work, it has become an increasing strain on resources for his entire family. So we're asking for your help.

Please visit http://elias.slowtheimpact.com to donate if you can to help Elias.

All donations are handled through Paypal and are directly deposited to an account setup to help Elias.

Your PayPal donation will go to steven.cockayne@gmail.com

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact me directly at steve@slowtheimpact.com, or you can PM me, etc...

    Try the help/advice people.

They are usually...um...helpful. And have a lot of advice.

edit: also, it may help your effort to collect funds at an account in the name of the child, not of your band. People find that fishy.

I'm not trying to spam or anything here... just a little desperate with everything going on, losing my mind a little, and I guess looking for any type of help I can get.

If anyone can help, it would be appreciated immensely. If not, it doesn't put me in any worse of a situation, so no harm, no foul.

I just figured, PA has always been good to me, so... Well, you get it.

The account is in my name, not my band's. It's my personal account, and most banks would be hard pressed to allow you to setup an account in a 1 year old's name. Likewise, PayPal requires the account holder to be 18+ as well.

The site is hosted on my band's server because thats where I had available space to do it.

If it gets deleted, it gets deleted. I'm only trying to use the resources I have available to me.

Also, I'm technically not breaking any rules. At least, not as they're defined. If there is some additional set of rules that I haven't read, I do apologize for breaking them, and I will be more than compliant in the future.

I can appreciate what you're going through, if something like this was happening to my nephew I'd be devastated. But the rule I think most people are thinking of is the site-whoring rule. I would at least PM a mod now to see what they say.

If this is legit I wish you the best of luck, but the hosting and randomness of it sounds scammy to me. Also, this isn't the right place for it.

I'd suggest contacting local media, they will usually run a story about something like this once a week or so. And look into setting up a charitable trust in the baby's name. Accounts can be set up specifically for donations for this kind of thing.

The Brownie Points link in my sig is a good example of how to go about doing something like you want to.

I'm really sorry, but we don't allow these campaigns on the forums. I can't make exceptions unless it comes from upstairs. I hope things turn out alright for you.
