Hello H/A,

I have a few questions regarding switching from my RC version of win to the home premium full version.

I have not done partitions in a very long time and wanted to make sure I was going about this the right way so I don't lose anything. I've already set a side 100gigs of my single hard drive to move all my music/data/videos to. Now I want to make sure I get all my game data. All my games are Steam games so I assume everything is in the same place. Thing is I have no clue where the data I have is stored. Where does steam save all the game data (saved games, settings, stats)?

Other than worrying about that I have what might be a stupid question. If I install Win7 Home Premium will I lose the data on the partition somehow? Just so you know I have a 600gig hard drive split into two partitions. Boot partition which is currently 500 and the storage partition of 100. Is there anyway I can do something catastrophic in where I will lose the info on the 100gig partition? I assume when installing Win7 it will wipe the hard drive (in this case the boot partition) I'm installing to?

    Most everything is under /steamapps/

I think a very few games (especially BioWare games) store things in other locations, so I would do a quick sweep of C: and your My Documents folder.

If you have an external hard drive, I'd suggest using the Windows Easy Transfer. I used it on my XP to Win7 reformat and upgrade a monthish ago and it worked very nicely. Well, except for itunes's library. The files were all still there, but I needed to basically readd a lot of stuff to the itunes library.

Edit: The Windows Easy Transfer also recognizes multiple partitions, too.
