I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

    Of course.

    I finished
the part with the old train
recently. Any more parts with poltergeists coming up?

Edit: Old Gods of Asgard - Hell yeah!

There are a shit ton of poltergeists. By the end of the game I had killed 96.

edit: Chapter 6, part 1 is full of them.

edit to the edit: 86 thermos, 28/30 chests found and 27/30 location signs read and 840 birds killed. Blargh! Why, Alan! Why! That's what I get for not using a collectible guide. Time to Nightmare this B though. You can sprint through most of the game w/o fighting.

A+ for the usage of Roy Orbison's In Dreams

Also has anyone seen the live action prequel, Bright Falls?

You see glimpses of the real actors who play the characters (Alan, Alice, Rose, etc) and it's pretty neat

That entire thing was way better in almost every way than I thought it would be.

Though watching it from Machinima.com's youtube channel kinda made the first couple episodes a little annoying. All kinds of huge annotations from the very beginning of the first episode like "WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THE DEER!! SCARY STUFF!" just sitting in the corner constantly.

Super nice to go back and get it all from the 360 marketplace and watch it on my TV in the dark though.

I thought it was surprisingly well done, too! The acting in particular. You never know what you're gonna get with web serieses like this. And I have a total crush on the lead actor.

I tried watching Machinima's evaluation/interpretation or whatever but it seemed unnecessary

Just finished it on Hard (Which wasn't, in fact, very hard I think)

    So yea, the ending.
What? That is not an ending at all. Did he write himself out of the story like Zane? Is Rose the new Lady of the Light? I don't really get it.

He didn't get out. And he didn't defeat the darkness. Remember: It's not a lake, it's an ocean.

I realized something really important about this game but I forgot... damn, now I gotta think for awhile to remember. OH!
Nightingale in the cutscene where he is taken by the darkness. I need to go watch it again, but he says something that alludes to a thing Wake took from him. He is taken at the exact second he's about to say it. I'm pretty sure it was his partner. Wake killed off via his book series... and he's always had the power to write things that come true.

Was it really that hyped? I thought it was more on- and off-radar and when it was on the press spoke rather highly of it. I wouldn't say it was hyped all the time.

Still, considering how long they took to finish it, it feels rather mediocre. The story is okay, but not great and feels rather inconsequential due to the ending. The atmosphere is awesome in some parts and tedious in others. Most of the lighting effects are good, some are lacking (i.e. your flashlight doesn't illuminate rooms like it would in RL).

All in all, let's just say I'm glad I rented it.

Shrug, and I'm glad I bought it and plan to replay it on nightmare when I'm finished with some other games.

Do not read this until you beat the game but it helps explain a lot:
    http://resumeplay.net/home/2010/5/24/the-alan-wake-files-shedding-light-on-the-games-mysteries.html

My theory on Nightingale is still a theory and kind of wacky but not disproved by this.

It was tense on hard in the last chapter doing the achievement where you can't fire a gun. Sometimes you're all out of flashbangs and you just gotta run. That's how nightmare will be too I've heard.

    Some things!
Firstly, I didn't know Wake was meant to have written some Night Springs episodes. That probably majesty their content more important.
    Secondly, in episode 4
anyone else found the poltergeist skeletons on the way to the farm, just before the stage battle?
And C, after seeing Orn Gisli Gunnardson in prince of persia, I was sure he had something to do with Alan Wake or Remedy.. like someone they modeled Wake's face on. Am I just making that up?

He was the voice in Max Payne 1 & 2, just so you know. Not only #2.

The look of the character is what changed. That voice actor is great.
I still maintain that a similar person to the fictional Alex Casey was Nightingale's partner, who was murdered. He blames Wake for writing what came true which is why Nightingale is a drunk, kicked off the FBI and chasing Wake. He also keeps having dreams about the darkness.

I don't think this Gisli person has anything to do with Remedy.

It's you, sorry. I was just unsure if McCaffrey was the voice of Zane too, until that point. As for Gunnardson, I was sure they'd used his face somewhere along the line, but fair enough.
