So, electric shavers. I need a new one, what's the best options, or brands, or whatever. I got no clues on these things, just need something that will give me a relitivly clean shaved look each morning

Hate to break it to you but electric shavers are a piece of shit. You will never get a truly "clean" shave from them. They're basically for when you're in a hurry and got to shave in the car on the way to work.

Depends on the shaver, I agree that bladed razors are superior, but a good electric one isn't bad for a shaving either.

But that's not what he asked, Foomy, I've found that the more you pay the better they are. Look for something in the $80-100 range. Norelco makes good products.

General rule of thumb is don't get one that looks like this:

Get one that looks like this:

Yeah, if I use that top one, it will give me acne like I'm a damn teenager.

The bottom one is fine, though.

Generally, I use a straight razor, but that's because I'm a bad motherfucker. I'll pop out an electric, though, if I let my beard grow out to get it down to a managable level so I can use the razor to get the rest off.

While on the subject, any tips for beard trimmers?

Norelco, there, too. I have a buddy that has one with a vacuum built into it and he really likes it. Seems kinda weird to me, but different strokes for different folks.

I use a bladed razor atm, but was just looking for something a bit quicker/more lazy to use in the mornings. Some morning I just want to run a quick buzz over my face and be done, doesn't need to be like baby smooth, just so long as I don't look all beardy.

You absolutely can find electric shavers that do a decent enough job--not quite as smooth as blades and not for as long, but it'll be fine.

I personally prefer the "bar" style to the "3 circles" style, as I find that I get a better (closer, more consistent) shave with it, but you will have to find what works best for your needs and face/skin.

I have a Braun 8595 (older model--can't seem to find it on their Canadian site anymore) and it works quite well for me. It has a self-cleaning station, bar style shaver, and a pop-up trimmer. It was a gift from my folks a few years ago, but I think it was well above the $100 dollar range.

Basically, like I said, you can absolutely find good electric shavers, but you might have to spend more than you're looking for to get out of the "total trash" zone for electrics.

What you want is this guy right here:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Q6SU3C/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

    Pricey but 100% worth it.

Pretty much it vibrates a lot and exposes more of the hair.

How about I just hook up my razor to a Hitachi Magic Wand?

Look, I'm just suggesting what I use and love. Sorry if you're not into the vibration but I had the earlier model of that one and it does make a difference.

    I'm being facetious.

I've tried that little thing that Gillette makes called a Fusion. It's a safety razor with a vibrator thingy in it. I haven't found that it gives a better shave, though. And, lord the blades are expensive.

Way better than 3 blade razors though. The price difference makes it :? though.

See im the exact opposite, the vibration gives me a much smoother shave, it was the same way as the mach3. Though your right in that those damn blades cost a fortune.

To be honest, buying an electric razor seems to be a kind of trial-and-error process. We've had two guys say the large, 3-circular-foil type ones are their favorite and the straight, longer type ones give them ingrown hairs. I'm the exact opposite, as are many guys I talk to. I also find the 3-circular-foil type ones are harder to use on smaller faces with sharper jawlines/etc.

I'd say go to Walmart or something, buy a reasonably-priced one and see how it works. You'll find out pretty quickly which style you (and your skin) prefer. Then go and spend the money on a nice razor that will last you. Don't forget as well, it can take up to 2 or 3 months for your skin and hair growth pattern to "settle" with a new electric razor, so give it at least that long. That being said, I've noticed that if a razor is going to give you ingrown hairs, it'll happen within the first few uses.

+1 on the Braun 790cc, Ive had mine for a year and Love it.
That price on amazon is great too, My Wife paid almost $300 for it a year ago.

I have tried many sub $150 electrics in the past 8 years or so, I kept going back to my Mach 3 razor.. My wife got me the 790cc a year ago and I haven't gone back.. Gotta find a good pre-shave with any electric though. Someone recommended "Afta" pre shave to me a while back.. was soo much better than that electra shave crap.

As far as "not as close as a razor" it all depends on how you shave, and how much time you spend on each part of your face/neck.. The neck will never be as close, but the face.. Baby smooth..

    YMMV

Want to tell me what roads you drive on so I can avoid them? :P
I watched a guy plow into a semi while shaving because the idiot wasn't paying attention to that little thing in front of him.. the giant ass 18 wheeler who had stopped like the rest of us in rush hour traffic.
